Service bulletins for the 2015 GMC Sierra
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

If end play is found to be out of specification, remove engine and inspect for possible crankshaft thrust bearing and/or crankshaft for wear. Inspect thrust bearing for wear on one side and crankshaft on that “mating” surface. If the thrust bearing has three vertical channels worn off replace connecting rod bearings, main bearings, thrust bearing and crankshaft. | GCUS-3-295 | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. 15396A - Service Update (revised to update the Parts Information). This bulletin provides a service procedure to install the original design temperature-sensor wiring harness to the valve body on certain 2015 model year Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV; Chevrolet Silverado; and GMC Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles, equipped with a 6.2L engine (L86) and 8-speed automatic transmission (M5U). The supplier of the transmission-wiring harness introduced an unapproved change to the temperature sensor (thermistor), resulting in incorrect oil-temperature readings during transition from cold to warm temperatures. This could cause a harsh shift when starting the vehicle at temperatures below 32ºF (0ºC); however, shift quality improves once the transmission oil warms up. |
| PIP5337F | 2017-10-15. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the step to diagnose and repair the vehicles that may have a shake or shudder during light throttle acceleration, between 30 and 65 mph steady state driving. Also shudder feeling that may be described as driving over rumble strips or rough pavement. Technician will drive the vehicle and monitor the torque converter clutch slip. The torque converter clutch slip speed should be 10 rpm or less also note if the shudder takes place during torque converter clutch apply. If the torque converter clutch slip speed is in the range of 10 RPM or less the condition is possibly related to engine performance. If the shudder is only present in 4 cylinder mode and torque converter clutch slip is 10 rpm or less deem the shudder concern normal characteristic of Active Fuel Management. If the slip speed is beyond 10 rpm or there is shudder during torque converter clutch apply the torque converter will need to be replaced. Also flush the cooler lines and cooler using DT-45096 transmission oil cooling system flush and flow test tool. |

If sharp edges are found, dress the edges or replace the torque converter. If the leak is from any of the outer converter housing bolts, replace Separator Plate, both separator plate gaskets, the pump O-ring, and all the retaining bolts and seals. Install new copper washers under the two lower housing bolts. If Leak is through the torque converter housing casting replace the casting, the gaskets and the separator plate. |
