Service bulletins for the 2018 GMC Canyon

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Bulletins, newest first
PIP5628F2023-05-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM). This Preliminary information communicates information that will need to be provided to TAC to aid in diagnosing if a vehicle comes in with misfire and DTC Codes P0300 - P0308 and/or P050D
PIP5830A2023-01-30. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM). This Preliminary information communicates concerns created by an aftermarket ECM calibration installed by fleet companies. The Fleet companies install aftermarket ECM calibrations to limit the vehicle speed to approximately 70 mph and reduce the over all power output. This calibration also reduces the engine idle speed and may induce a vibration at idle. If the vehicle needs to be returned to factory specifications, the ECM must be replaced and programmed.
16NA3252022-05-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM). This technical bulletin provides a procedure on how to properly identify if there is any aftermarket calibrations loaded on the ECM or and detection of a power up hardware installed.
20NA1972022-05-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM); BACK OVER PREVENTION; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. This technical bulletin provides a procedure to inspect and repair the fuel pressure sensor if found the cause of the customers concern.
18239012022-02-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; AIR BAGS; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM); EXTERIOR LIGHTING. Emissions Recall. General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain vehicles, equipped with 4-cylinder engines (RPO LHN, LEX, L3A, LYX, LKN, LE2, LCV or LTG). On some vehicles, an electrical connection in the circuit board may fail in the engine control module. If this occurs, a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL), such as the Check Engine Light may illuminate. Replace the Engine Control Module (ECM).

PIP58302021-12-13. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM).
173372021-04-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM). General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain 2016 model year Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon; 2017 model year Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana; 2017-2018 model year Chevrolet Colorado, Cruze, Silverado HD, GMC Canyon, Sierra HD and 2018 model year Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with a diesel engine. The engine control module in these vehicles may not properly diagnose a fault in the exhaust particulate matter sensor. Additionally, a subset of these vehicles, certain 2017 model year Chevrolet Silverado HD and GM Sierra HD vehicles, may in rare instances exhibit a condition in which the engine surges up to 2,800 RPM during vehicle coast or vehicle braking. Correction Program the engine control module, and transmission control module when applicable.
