Service bulletin 18239 01

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Emissions Recall. General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain vehicles, equipped with 4-cylinder engines (RPO LHN, LEX, L3A, LYX, LKN, LE2, LCV or LTG). On some vehicles, an electrical connection in the circuit board may fail in the engine control module. If this occurs, a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL), such as the Check Engine Light may illuminate. Replace the Engine Control Module (ECM).

PIP5830A2023-01-30. Service bulletin. This Preliminary information communicates concerns created by an aftermarket ECM calibration installed by fleet companies. The Fleet companies install aftermarket ECM calibrations to limit the vehicle speed to approximately 70 mph and reduce the over all power output. This calibration also reduces the engine idle speed and may induce a vibration at idle. If the vehicle needs to be returned to factory specifications, the ECM must be replaced and programmed.
