Service bulletins for the 2021 Ford Transit

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

134 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

TSB 21-21062021-05-04. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM:CONDENSOR/EVAPORATOR. Some 2017-2021 Transit vehicles built on or before 30-Nov-2020 may experience a slow fill condition and/or illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0171, P0174, P0451, P0455, P0456, P0496 and/or P1450. This may be due to a kinked evaporator emissions fresh air vent line. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to attach a zip tie to the fresh air vent line.
TSB 21-21022021-05-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Some 2015-2021 Transit vehicles built with manual sliding door(s) may have an incorrectly adjusted ajar switch. To correct this condition, follow the service procedure to readjust the ajar switch.
SSM 497602021-05-03. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING. 2015-2021 Transit vehicles equipped with dual rear wheels (DRW) have a high mount rear marker lamp that does not illuminate with the stop lamps. This lamp assembly may appear to be a stop lamp but is intended to illuminate with the parking lamps only. This information is available in Workshop Manual Section 417-01. The JDDAB feature code description found under OASIS additional information is common between single rear wheel and DRW vehicles, and incorrectly reflects stop functionality when applied to DRW units.
SSM 497562021-05-03. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARE. Some 2018-2021 vehicles supported by FDRS may not list a software update for a module under the SW Updates tab although an SSM or TSB is published for a software update. This may be due to the module already being at the latest software level. A later software level may have been programmed at the assembly plant, during a previous dealer visit or by an over the air (OTA) update for vehicles that have automatic updates enabled in the SYNC system settings. To review a vehicle's OTA update history, visit the Connected Vehicle > OTA Dashboard tab in OASIS. Information about the OTA Dashboard can be found on FMCDealer.com when performing a search on OTA History Job Aid.
TSB 21-20442021-04-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2020-2021 Transit vehicles equipped with a gas engine may exhibit a harsh engagement into drive with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0772 and/or P2704 in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to sticking valves in the main control valve body. Most vehicles will improve and no longer exhibit the condition after the first 8,000 km (5,000 mi) of driving. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to perform the transmission accelerated main control break-in routine and/or overhaul the main control valve body.
TSB 21-20642021-04-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2015-2021 Transit vehicles equipped with rear wheel drive (RWD), single rear wheel (SRW), and a U-joint at the transmission flange and rear driveshaft may experience a boom/hum/moan noise or vibration from the rear while driving. This noise or vibration is most prevalent at highway speeds (112-121 km/h 7075 mph for 4.10 axle ratio, 121-128 km/h 75-80 mph for 3.73 axle ratio, and 136-145 km/h 85-90 mph for 3.31 axle ratio) and may also be present to a lesser degree at roughly half of those speeds. This may be due to a 2nd order driveline frequency transmitted through the rear drive shaft, rear axle and into the body through the leaf springs. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to install a driveshaft torsional damper.
SSM 496902021-03-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. For 2018-2021 EcoSport/Expedition/Navigator, 2019-2021 Ranger/Transit Connect, 2020-2021 Escape/Explorer/SuperDuty/Transit/Aviator/Corsair, 2021 Bronco Sport/F-150/Mustang/Mach-E the Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics may direct to replace a module on vehicles that use Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). First, an FDRS session must be created on the vehicle prior to removing the faulted module. Once the session is started, run the Programmable Module Installation and replace the module only when instructed by FDRS. Installing a new module prior to starting a scan tool session may result in incomplete module configuration with DTCs U2100, U2101 and/or U2200. Once a session has been started, continue to follow normal WSM procedures to repair the vehicle.
SSM 496652021-03-31. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some 2015-2021 Transit vehicles may experience difficulty opening and/or closing the manual sliding door that will require sliding door adjustment. When performing the sliding door adjustment procedure in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-03, use the following updated torque specs. Step 12 = 70 Nm (52 ft-lb). Step 27 = 40 Nm (30 ft-lb). In step 18, apply Motorcraft Threadlock 262 (TA-26) to the nut before torqueing. The WSM is in the process of being updated to include these revisions.
SSM 495102021-02-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2020-2021 Transit vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with all of the following diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the powertrain control module (PCM): P2804, P2803, P0713, P0710, P0709, and P0708. This article only applies if all of these DTCs are present. Prior to any diagnosis, inspect connectors C1551, C1280, C1281, and C1520 for partial connections, damage, or pushed out pins and repair as necessary. If a fault is not identified during the inspections of the connectors, continue diagnosis using the appropriate WSM Sections.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
