The Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01 has been updated to include the correct location to apply sealant to the rear crankshaft seal. When repairing a rear crankshaft oil leak condition, a 3 mm (0.120 in) bead of Motorcraftù Silicone Gasket and Sealant TA-30 (WSE-M4G323-A4) or equivalent must be applied to the joints where the ladder frame meets the engine block. Failure to follow the updated procedure in WSM, Section 303-01 may result in a repeat oil leak at the rear of the engine.
SSM 470122018-05-29. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Some 2015-2018 F-150, Mustang and Transit vehicles built on or before 01-Dec-2017 may have a concern of no airflow from the climate control vents. This may be caused by a seized or sticking A/C clutch. This can be repaired by replacing only the A/C clutch (19D786/19D784). The compressor assembly (19703) may not be required. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 412-00 for A/C clutch removal. It may be necessary to lightly tap around the stuck area of the clutch with a rubber mallet to free it from the pulley for removal. Refer to applicable labor operations from Section 11 of the SLTS maunual when replacing the A/C clutch.
SSM 470092018-05-29. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. The Accessory (Wireless) Keyless Entry Keypad can only be used with vehicles that are factory built with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE). To repair, follow BCM installation procedures in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-10 using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software (FJDS) release 109.02 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com. For claiming this programming procedure, use causal part 15604 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
SSM 472012018-05-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Replacing the original equipment SYNC/Navigation system with either an aftermarket SYNC/Navigation kit or modifying original SYNC/Navigation parts to provide additional features is not recommended nor supported on any Ford, Mercury or Lincoln vehicle. Only approved Genuine Ford accessories or originally installed systems are supported and certified to function correctly with other vehicle systems. If you suspect a system has been modified, the following resources can be used to verify original equipment: Monroney Label (Window Sticker), Professional Technician Society (PTS) OASIS tab select SYNC or HVBOM. For Genuine Ford accessories use: PTS Workshop Tab select Dealer Installed Accessory or Accessory Installation.
SSM 471282018-05-21. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Some 2011-2018 Super Duty and 2015-2018 Transit vehicles equipped with diesel engines may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U0100 stored in various modules after running a continuous memory diagnostic trouble code (CMDTC) test or network test using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS). If there are no observable symptoms related to a loss of communication with the PCM and the DTC is not set when running individual on-demand self-tests of the modules, do not attempt any repairs at this time.
SSM 471272018-05-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:ANTI-THEFT DEVICES. The procedure to program keys on 2015-2018 Transit vehicles depends on if the vehicle is equipped with the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS). Keys for PATS and non-PATS vehicles look the same, there is no visual difference. Vehicles with PATS have a plastic ring around the ignition lock cylinder and transponder. On the OASIS page, PATS vehicles can be identified by clicking on the Additional Information link and using the search function (Ctrl + F) to find IMMOBILIZER. Vehicles with LESS ENG IMMOBILIZER THEFT SYS do not have PATS. Refer to Work Shop Manual (WSM), Section 501-14 for programming keys on non PATS vehicles and Section 419-01B for programming keys on PATS vehicles. When performing the PATS key procedure, both PATS and Remote Keyless Entry codes are programmed simultaneously.
SSM 471232018-05-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2015-2017 Transit vehicles may fail to program the BCM following replacement. To repair, follow BCM installation procedures in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-10 using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software (FJDS) release 108.06 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com. Disregard DTC U0264 in the BCM and DTC U0010 in the Image Processing Module B (IPMB) if no observable rear parking aid camera concerns are present. For claiming this programming procedure, use causal part 15604 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
SSM 471102018-05-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. Some 2017-2018 F-Super Duty/2016-2018 F650-750 with 6.7L diesel engines and 2015-2018 Transit with 3.2L diesel engines may exhibit a MIL on with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Prior to performing Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test RJ, confirm DEF concentration using IDS to monitor REDUCT_CONC_MES. This PID reading may fluctuate between 31% and 34% indicating DEF concentration is correct. A concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. This reading may also be checked using Central Tools Refractometer (CEN3R201) which should indicate a similar percentage as the PID. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts.
SSM 470942018-05-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Some 2015-2017 Transit vehicles may fail BCM installation programming when attempting to install a new BCM. The Technical Assistance Center and engineering teams are currently working to resolve this concern. If module programming is unsuccessful, do not attempt further repairs. Do not perform repeated key cycles or starting attempts. 30 key cycles on a blank module may result in a non-recoverable BCM when the programming concern is resolved. Monitor OASIS for updates.
SSM 470802018-05-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. 2010-2018 various vehicles equipped with SYNC or SYNC 3 may not function when attempting to find or use the Spotify app via AppLink. As of an update released on 1/15/2018 Spotify will no longer be supporting their AppLink integration. No repair attempts should be attempted to correct this concern.
SSM 469232018-01-29. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2015-2017 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.5L or 3.7l gasoline engine may exhibit an engine overheat condition or poor A/C cooling due to one or more of the 3 cooling fan fuses being open. If any one of the Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuses F30, F31, or F8 are open, replace F8 from a 20 amp to a 30 amp fuse (6E5Z-14526-BA), and service the F30 and F31 40 amp fuses (6E5Z-14526-CA) as needed. The wiring diagram has been updated. Failure to replace an open F8 with a 30amp fuse will cause F30 and F31 to open over time. Claim using causal part 9K499 if no other root cause is identified. Use applicable labor ops from section 10 of the SLTS manual for fuse replacement.
SSM 469032018-01-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE. When replacing a 2015-2018 Transit 3.2L Duratorq-TDCi engine assembly or block, two new transmission locator dowel pins (W703519 or W718670) must be installed. This information is available in Workshop Manual, Section 303-01C. The parts catalog also specifies to order the dowels when ordering an engine. Failure to install dowels pins will prevent proper engine to transmission alignment resulting in a cracked flexplate and/or crankshaft position sensor damage. Per Warranty and Policy, damage resulting from an incomplete or improper repair is not warrantable.
SSM 469002018-01-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some vehicles may exhibit a no start condition with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and a DTC P161A after PCM replacement. This may be due to the parameter reset procedure not being properly completed. To clear this DTC, use the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software, select - Toolbox - Body - Security - PATS Functions - Parameter Reset. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the procedure. This procedure will transfer the existing Key ID information between the modules without the need of having 2 programmed PATS keys present. There is no need to program keys when the PCM is going to be replaced. Additional information can be found in the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-01. Missing or lost keys are not warrantable.
SSM 468902017-12-14. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Some 2017 F-Super Duty/2016-2017 F650-750 equipped with 6.7L diesel engines and 2015-2017 Transit equipped with 3.2L diesel engines may exhibit a MIL on with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C stored in powertrain control module(PCM). This may be due to incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Prior to performing Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test RJ, ensure DEF concentration is checked using Central Tools Refractometer tool number CEN3R201 and if DEF contamination is suspected use the Rotunda Hydrocarbon Test Kit tool number 328-480508.
SSM 468892017-12-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some 2015-2018 Transit vehicles may have unique accessory drive noise characteristics. Engineering review of warranty returned belt tensioners has not identified an out of specification part, nor have abnormal sounds been recreated during on-vehicle evaluations with warranty returned tensioners. Before attempting a repair for an accessory drive system noise, compare the sound to a like Transit vehicle in similar RPM and temperature conditions. If the sound is not characteristic, use chassis ears to help isolate the source of the noise. If tensioner replacement is deemed necessary, use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the vehicle's OASIS screen and submit a detailed Global Concern Report highlighting the specific conditions when the noise was observed.
SSM 468242017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE. Some 2013-2017 F-Super Duty/2015-2017 Transit/2016-2017 F650-750 vehicles equipped with a diesel engine may exhibit DTC P207F and/or P20EE (Reductant Quality Performance) in the powertrain control module (PCM). When repairing DTC P207F or P20EE, refer to the online version of the powertrain control/emission diagnostic (PC/ED) manual for the latest diagnostics. The pinpoint test RD and diagnostic trouble code chart have been updated in section 4 and 5 for DTC P207F and P20EE.
SSM 468232017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. 2015-2018 Transit vehicles equipped with dual rear wheels (DRWs) have a high mount rear marker lamp that does not illuminate with the stop lamps. This lamp assembly may appear to be a stop lamp but is intended to illuminate with the parking lamps only. This information is available in Workshop Manual Section 417-01.
SSM 468072017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2015-2018 Transits may exhibit a lack of airflow from the front climate control system cabin vents in fresh air mode. This concern can be due to improper installation of the hood vent air duct plug. The correct location for the plug is on the left side hood opening per the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-02.
SSM 467162017-08-25. Service bulletin. SEATS. Some 2015-2017 Transit vehicles may exhibit front seat safety belts that do not extend or retract properly or may exhibit an abnormal noise. Verify if the vehicle has been modified, in particular if a bulkhead partition between the front seats and cargo area has been added to the vehicle. Fasteners or holes in the lower b-pillar are indicators that the seat belt retractor mechanism could have been compromised. If diagnostics lead to retractor replacement, inspect for drill or screw holes in the retractor housing. Damage to the seat belt retractor caused by a vehicle modifier is not warrantable.
