Service bulletins for the 2019 Ford Transit Connect

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Bulletins, newest first
SSM 478242019-04-01. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2015-2017 vehicles may experience a no crank concern due to a security access key table error. When attempting to program keys or perform a parameter reset, the procedure may fail and the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) scan tool may display an error 232: Key Table Not Allocated. If this error message is encountered, the Body Control Module (BCM) is internally faulted and requires replacement. For claiming, use causal part 15604 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standards (SLTS) manual.
SSM 477922019-04-01. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some 2019 Transit Connect vehicles built on or after 28-May-2018 may experience a lack of power steering assist or a power steering fault message in the message center. It is important to avoid cycling the ignition switch. Charge the battery and remove the vehicle from transportation mode. If diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) U3003 and U2011 are stored, attempt to recover the PSCM by performing module programming. If the vehicle has DTCs U3003, U3000, U2011 and the PSCM will not communicate with the diagnostic scan tool, replace the PSCM.
18B312019-03-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Certain 2019 Model Year Transit Connect Vehicles with an 8F35/40 Transmission - Transmission Replacement
SSM 477492019-03-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Some 2012-2019 Vehicles may require repairs to the Smartlink system. Smartlink is a Ford Licensed Accessory which has a warranty provided by the accessory manufacturer. Warranty replacement parts for Smartlink that are ordered through Ford are not reimbursable through the Ford Motor Company warranty system. Please see the Warranty and Policy Manual for further information on Ford Licensed Accessories.
SSM 477112019-03-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2016-2019 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 and a 6, 8 or 10 inch screen may show a pop-up message every key cycle that states 'SYNC can check for updates when connected to a WiFi network'. To remove the inconvenience of the pop-up the customer can either connect to a trusted WiFi network to complete the setup process or turn off WiFi in the WiFi settings located under the Settings menu. Adjusting the setting for the customer is not a warrantable defect.
SSM 476822019-01-07. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT. Some 2019 Focus/Transit Connect/Edge/Nautilus vehicles equipped with 8F35 transmission may exhibit an appearance of a fluid leak or weep from transmission axle shaft seal. This condition may be caused by excessive internal seal (dark brown) grease lubricant that is applied during manufacturing of the axle seals. With a suitable cloth, clean the grease from the transmission seal and housing with Motorcraftù Metal Brake Parts Cleaner or equivalent. If the fluid is red, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01 for normal diagnostics.
SSM 476352019-01-07. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. When connecting the Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) and Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) to the DLC located on the driver side under the steering column at the GWM, make sure that the ignition is off before connecting the VCM. If the ignition is on or the engine is running during the connection, it can result in various warning lights being illuminated with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), no start, no crank conditions or the IPC inoperative. If a vehicle displays these issues, disconnect the equipment from the DLC and disconnect the vehicle battery. Wait 10 minutes and reinstall with the ignition off. Clear any DTCs present and retest.
SSM 475542018-12-03. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some 2019 Transit Connect vehicles built on or after 28-May-2018 may experience a lack of power steering assist or a power steering fault in the message center at start up which may occur after a discharged battery. Do not replace the steering rack and pinion or power steering control module (PSCM). An FDRS PSCM programmable module installation (PMI) tool update is now available, if the tool was previously downloaded, refresh PSCM PMI tool before proceeding. Reprogram the PSCM with the latest version of FDRS. Use applicable labor operations in Section 03 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
