| SSM 52630 | 2024-07-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some 2023-2024 Escape/Corsair vehicles equipped with a 1.5L or 2.0L EcoBoost engine, 2024 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine, and 2024 Nautilus vehicles may exhibit an engine misfire condition with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0301, P0302, P0303 and/or P0304 set in the powertrain control module (PCM). If the codes are stored in the PCM, remove and inspect the condition of all the spark plugs. If all spark plugs are found to be free of damage, replacement of the spark plugs is not necessary. Refer to the Workshop Manual and perform normal diagnostics. If any spark plugs appear to be damaged, use a borescope to inspect the condition of the cylinder walls. If the cylinder walls are scored/scraped/damaged, replace the long block engine assembly (6006) to resolve this condition. If the cylinder walls are not scored/scraped/damaged, replace the damaged spark plug(s) and advise the customer that engineering is investigating this issue. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available. |

| SSM 52440 | 2024-04-29. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM):SOFTWARE; UNKNOWN OR OTHER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BODY CONTROL MODULE/BCM. Some 2024 Mustang GT vehicles built on 15-Nov-2023 and through 26-Mar-2024 may exhibit an inoperative auto start-stop feature. This may be due to the body control module (BCM) configuration. Engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected June 2024. Replacement or reprogramming of the BCM will not resolve this condition. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available. Vehicles built on or before 14-Nov-2023 are not equipped with auto start-stop and the Workshop Manual (WSM) is in the process of being updated with this information. |
| SSM 52335 | 2024-03-20. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. For 2015-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines and customer concern of an engine oil leak, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 for oil leak inspection and testing methods. Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed. |
| SSM 52334 | 2024-03-20. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2011-2024 Mustang and F-150 vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit a tick tap and/or typewriter ticking noise at idle after an engine oil change. It is often referred to as typewriter noise because of its similarity to the sound of a mechanical typewriter. The noise in question may be heard on some engines when engine temperatures reach 150°F (65°C) or higher and engine speed is at idle up to approximately 1700 RPM. It can typically be heard at the front wheel well and is often isolated to the transmission bell housing or oil pan area. The typewriter noise tick rate can be faster or slower and is not detrimental to the engine function or durability and has no short or long term effects on the engine. This an operating characteristic of the 5.0L engine and no repairs should be attempted. This information along with an example audio clip has been added to the WSM Section 303-00 Engine System General Information > Diagnosis and Testing > Engine > PPT F > Step F2. |
| TSB 23-2369 | 2023-12-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ENGINE. Some 2024 Mustang vehicles built on or before 5-Oct-2023 and equiped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTC P0101 and/or P010B in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the software level of the PCM. To correct this condition, perform the Service Procedure below to reprogram the PCM to the latest software level via the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). |
| SSM 52007 | 2023-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT; VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM. Some 2024 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine and built on or before 12-Oct-2023 may exhibit an inoperative air conditioning system (A/C). This may be due to a refrigerant leak coming from the receiver/drier upper cap on the condenser. If a refrigerant leak is suspected, inspect the receiver/drier upper cap on the condenser for a refrigerant leak and repair as necessary using causal part number 19712 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If the receiver/drier upper cap is not leaking, continue with normal diagnostics found in the Workshop Manual, Section 412-00. |
