Service bulletins for the 2017 Ford Mustang
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| SSM 47433 | 2018-09-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:MANIFOLD/HEADER/MUFFLER/TAIL PIPE; EQUIPMENT. Some 2015-2017 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0300 through P0308 present. A noticeable misfire may or may not accompany these DTCs. If normal diagnostics do not lead to a root cause for this concern, remove the intake manifold from the vehicle and verify the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) plates move when the IMRC actuators are moved by hand. These plates are visible through the outlet ports of the intake manifold. If the IMRC plates do not move when the IMRC actuators are moved by hand, the intake manifold should be replaced. For claiming, use causal part 9424 and applicable labor operations in Section 9 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |

| SSM 47380 | 2018-07-23. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2016-2018 Ford and Lincoln vehicles with SYNC 3 may exhibit an intermittent blue or black screen. Check for SYNC software update under the OASIS Tab SYNC selection. If update is available refer to WSM, Section 415-00 and update APIM software. After Installation Complete pop-up appears, remove USB flash drive and install into IDS tool to update Ford database. Perform a complete ignition cycle by turning the key off for 5 minutes which is critical for a successful installation. If no updates are available or a blue or black screen is present after an update refer to WSM, Section 415-00 for diagnosis or SYNC 3 intermittent blank screen GSB for tips. For claiming, use causal part 14G371 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the SLTS manual. |
| SSM 47379 | 2018-07-23. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Various 2016-2018 vehicles with SYNC 3 may experience a touch screen that does not respond to any input. Using the Professional Technician Society (PTS) website > OASIS tab > SYNC version, verify the vehicle SYNC software version. If the vehicle is at version 2.2 please update the module to the latest software level. After the software is updated make sure you shut the vehicle off, open the door for 2 minutes, then turn the key back on before testing the touch screen. If the software is at a later version than 2.2, proceed with normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 415-00. For claiming, use causal part 14G371 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standards (SLTS) manual. |
| SSM 47364 | 2018-07-23. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. Some 2015-2018 Mustang GT350s may exhibit an engine oil leak that appears to be originating from the oil filter adapter or oil cooler. If the leak appears to be originating from the oil cooler, be aware that the leak may actually be originating from the oil filter adapter, and oil may run down the oil cooler tubes and drip off of the cooler, making it appear that the leak is originating from the oil cooler. If the true source of the leak is caused by a damaged O-ring where the oil cooler tubes meet the oil filter adapter, be aware that these O-rings are now available as a separate service part from the oil cooler tubes. Replacement O-rings can be ordered using part number FR3Z-00815-A. For claiming, use causal part 6B850 and applicable labor operations in Section 6 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |

If the cause of this is found to be a refrigerant leak from the evaporator, it is recommended to replace only the evaporator as opposed to the entire climate control housing. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. |
| SSM 47041 | 2018-06-11. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2015-2018 F-150, Mustang and Transit vehicles built on or before 01-Dec-2017 may have a concern of no airflow from the climate control vents. This may be caused by a seized or sticking A/C clutch. This can be repaired by replacing only the A/C clutch (19D786/19D784). The compressor assembly (19703) may not be required. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 412-00 for A/C clutch removal. It may be necessary to lightly tap around the stuck area of the clutch with a rubber mallet to free it from the pulley for removal. This may be due to contact between the convertible top and the tonneau covers that may be installed on the vehicle by the customer when the top is in the open position. If the tonneau covers have been installed on the vehicle, and the wear/damage is located in the area where the tonneau covers overlap the convertible top, replace the convertible top material. Refer to WSM, Section 501-18. Discard the original tonneau covers, and supply the customer with new tonneau covers, part numbers FR3Z-7631004-CB and FR3Z-7631005-CB.
