SSM 516642023-05-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BODY CONTROL MODULE/BCM. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with SYNC 4 may require a replacement of the body control module (BCM) for various concerns. After programmable module installation (PMI) of the new BCM, diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U2100:00, U2101:00 and/or U211B:87 may be present. Download and run the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) application titled Trusted Real-Time Operation Network (TRON) Module Authentication, and perform the TRON Diagnosis and Repair and Reset ECU on CAN BUS routines. Once both TRON routines have been completed, re-run the BCM PMI application. Verify that all BCM DTCs have cleared. Service procedures are being updated to improve this process. Monitor OASIS for updates.
SSM 516012023-05-24. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL; TRAILER HITCHES. Some 2021-2023 F-150 and 2022-2023 F-Super Duty/Expedition/Navigator/Maverick vehicles equipped with an integrated trailer module (iTRM) may exhibit a trailer lamp fault message with various related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC). Most trailer emulator testers will not draw enough current to correctly diagnose these concerns. They may be used to diagnose basic functionality of the iTRM, however, some trailer emulator testers may cause false trailer lamp fault messages to appear. The customer's trailer should be used for diagnosis instead of a trailer emulator tester. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-01 for normal diagnostics.
SSM 516492023-05-23. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2021-2023 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 transmission may exhibit harsh or delayed engagement/shift concerns. Most concerns may be addressed with the PCM/TCM Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In Routine. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 307-01, DTC Chart and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. This routine cycles the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination that may be sticking the valves and must be performed along with an adaptive learning drive cycle before attempting internal service. Although this routine was developed for low mileage vehicles, it has proven effective for resolving many shift and engagement symptoms across the life of the vehicle. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards Manual.
SSM 516262023-05-16. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles built on or before 28-Mar-2023 and equipped with a 12.3 inch IPC display may experience a blank IPC screen. This may be due to a faulted graphics interface processor (GIP) in the IPC Module. If a vehicle exhibits this condition, use the Ford Diagnostic and Repair System (FDRS) to determine if the GIP is communicating. To confirm GIP communication, start a session with the vehicle using FDRS. From the Vehicle Info tab, select IPC. Under Module Details, if device identification (DID) F120 indicates Null, the GIP is faulted, and the IPC module (base part number: 10849) requires replacement. Do not replace the IPC display for this condition. For claiming, use causal part 10849 and M-time.
SSM 515932023-05-16. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit the IPC reverting back to the home screen after the vehicle is shut off and restarted. The last screen viewed by the customer may not be remembered after the ignition is cycled. This is an operating characteristic of the vehicle and no repairs should be performed at this time. Use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of OASIS to submit a report if there is a customer concern of IPC operation.
SSM 515792023-05-04. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit static in the audio system when operating various electrical components such as power windows/roof opening panel. This may be due to the body side ground cable fastener G119 being loose. Inspect the body side ground cable fastener G119 for proper tightness of 6 lb-ft (8 Nm). If the body side ground cable fastener G119 is tightened properly to 6 lb-ft (8 Nm) and the concern persists, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 415-00 for normal diagnostics.
SSM 515782023-05-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BODY CONTROL MODULE/BCM. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles may set DTCs B109F:55, B1330:9A, U0252:87, U0198:87, U0184:87, U0155:87, U0256:87, and/or U0100:87 in the BCM when a diagnostic self-test is performed. This may be due to an incorrect sequence of an internal measurement unit during self-test causing a false history status DTC (0x48 or 0x08 status). The DTC matures to history status because the BCM detects nothing is wrong. Replacement or reprogramming of the BCM will not resolve this condition. B109F:55, B1330:9A, U0252:87, U0198:87, U0184:87, U0155:87, U0256:87, and/or U0100:87 should be ignored if: no other DTCs are present in the BCM, the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is not illuminated while the engine is running, and no drivability concerns are present. No further service action is required.
SSM 515362023-05-04. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. For 2000-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, swapping a module from a vehicle for diagnosis purposes is likely to cause errors and is not recommended. It is also not recommended to order a replacement module using a vehicle identification number (VIN) from a different vehicle. Most modules on these affected vehicles are VIN/vehicle specific and hardware variations between modules do exist. Swapping a module from a vehicle or ordering a module using a different vehicle/VIN can cause ineffective repairs and additional vehicle down time. Make sure all appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures are followed when diagnosing the condition prior to all module replacements and only order modules using the correct VIN.
SSM 515662023-05-04. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARE. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit the trailer optimized routing feature, active trailer name keyboard, or trailer maintenance keyboard not available when an active trailer profile is utilized. This may be due to the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software. Replacement or reprogramming of the APIM may not resolve this condition. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition and will be released via an over the air (OTA) software update expected in Q2 2023. Customers that have experienced this concern should verify automatic updates are enabled and that the vehicle has been run long enough to receive updates via OTA. Monitor OASIS for additional information.
SSM 515652023-05-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles are not compatible with previous model year RKE keys and Ford Accessory keyless entry keypads. A different radio frequency is used on 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles than previous models. Do not attempt to program previous model year RKE keys or keypads to 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles.
SSM 515552023-05-04. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with vacuum assist brakes may exhibit an illuminated brake warning indicator with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) C0047 and/or P0557 present. This may be due to the brake vacuum sensor. To correct the condition, remove and replace the brake vacuum sensor, part NK4Z-2C444-A. To prevent repeat concerns, install the sensor with the electrical connector pointed towards the identification label on the vacuum brake booster.
SSM 515522023-05-04. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles may be equipped with a panel between the media bin door and the cup holders that has 3 exposed holes. The panel is not missing a piece of trim. The holes are intended to allow USB cable usage with the media bin door closed. No repairs should be attempted as this is intended design.
SSM 515312023-05-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2020-2023 Explorer/Aviator/Transit, 2021-2023 F-150/Bronco, 2022-2023 Expedition/Navigator/Mustang and 2023 F-250/F-350 Super Duty vehicles may exhibit harsh/delayed engagement and/or harsh/delayed shift concerns. These may be addressed with the powertrain control module (PCM)/transmission control module (TCM) Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In Routine and/or a main control overhaul. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01, DTC Chart if DTCs are present and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. Cycling the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination must be performed along with an adaptive drive cycle before attempting repair. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
SSM 514782023-04-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2021-2023 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may experience a lack of power due to snow packing of the engine air cleaner when operating in extremely snowy conditions. A front grill cover (service part PC4Z-19A413-A) is now available for service use but is not a warrantable item. It is recommended that the front grill cover be removed at temperatures greater than 10°F (-12°C) and reinstall in subsequent winter seasons in order to maintain optimal vehicle performance.
SSM 512542023-01-05. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:CRANK/CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. Use causal part 14F642 and applicable labor times from Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
SSM 508042022-06-01. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2013-2023 Ford or Lincoln vehicles with modems activated through FordPass or LincolnWay may experience 12 volt battery drain symptoms when the customer uses non-Ford/Lincoln phone applications as an alternate channel to access vehicle commands such as door lock/unlock, remote start, vehicle location, etc. The battery drain may be caused by excessive calls for data through the vehicle network keeping it in an activated state. Recommend that the customer uninstall the app to ensure this is not contributing to battery symptoms experienced. Advise the customer that unaffiliated third-party app developers do not work directly with Ford to adhere to security, vehicle communication, and privacy requirements.
SSM 506362022-03-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. 2011-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2023 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an elevated idle condition. During prolonged idle time, vehicles may experience this elevated idle to reduce unburned hydrocarbons from the SCR. The powertrain control module estimates hydrocarbon levels in the SCR and may increase idle speed to remove them. Idle speed will be increased to 1000 RPM for ambient temperatures near 26°C (80°F) and may increase to 1200 RPM at -40 °C (-40°F). Vehicles may exhibit exhaust smoke and diesel exhaust fluid smell during elevated idle condition. Exhaust smoke and smell condition will not affect reliability or durability of the engine. Power take-off (PTO) use and idle set point control will disable elevated speed. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to any Exhaust Filter warning messages.
