Service bulletins for the 2023 Ford F-550

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 539662025-06-24. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some 2021-2025 Ford/ Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC4 may not be able to perform an update to the accessory protocol interface module (APIM). This may be due to the software in the APIM. Ford Engineering has de-activated the ability to update these SYNC4 APIM modules as applicable, and the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) will not present an update for the APIM module. Some existing directed repairs may be impacted, check Professional Technician System (PTS) before attempting any specific technical service bulletin (TSB)/special service message (SSM) and check field service action (FSA) landing pages before attempting any FSA repairs. For any vehicle repairs requiring a software update that includes an APIM update in the programming sequence, if the 5-digit product code for the APIM software is equal to or lower than 23187, do not attempt to update affected modules at this time. To determine the 5-digit product code for the APIM software on the vehicle, while the vehicle center display screen is powered up with ignition in run or accessory, go to Settings > General > About SYNC.
SSM 538962025-06-19. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2023-2025 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with cylinder injection pulse offset diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P2B11, P2B13, P2B15, P2B17, P2B19, P2B1B, P2B1D, and/or P2B1F stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) when operating at elevations greater than 2500 feet (762 meters). If symptoms are present, perform the "Reset Minimum Fuel Mass Adaption - All Cylinders" using the "Reset/Clear Specified Function" application with Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and retest. If the concern remains, refer to the Workshop Manual, Section 303-04 for additional diagnostics. If the symptoms are no longer present, no additional diagnosis or service is recommended for this condition at this time. Inform customers engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in Q3 2025. Monitor PTS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available. If this condition is encountered, use the "Submit Global Concern Report (GCR)"
SSM 538922025-06-19. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Some 2023-2025 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a "Hill Start Assist Unavailable" and/or "Parking Brake Limited Function" message at vehicle start-up with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U0151, U023A, U0159, and/or U0146 stored in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. These DTCs and/or U0415 may also be present in various other modules related to "invalid data received from the ABS control module". Replacement or reprogramming of the ABS module will not resolve this condition. There is no effect to the parking brake or other vehicle functions. This does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in Q3 2025. Monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available.
SSM 538892025-06-19. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2023-2025 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a trailer brake control module may exhibit a "Trailer Disconnected" message after cycling the ignition off and back on with a trailer connected. This may be due to the presence of an integrated battery charger on a trailer equipped with electric over hydraulic brakes. If trailer functionality is restored after unplugging and plugging the trailer connector back in while the ignition is on, this condition can be corrected by downloading and performing the "Trailer Brake Configuration" application using the latest version of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 19H332 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
SSM 538792025-06-11. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2020-2025 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 automatic transmission may exhibit a delayed engagement into drive and/or reverse on initial start-up. The condition may occur at times after sitting overnight or for a couple of days. This may be due to the transmission fluid draining back from the torque converter. This is a normal characteristic of the 10R140 transmission and has no effect on durability, do not attempt to repair. Advise the customer to allow more time after first engine start-up and before shifting into gear allowing time for the torque converter to refill.

Some 2020 Continental, 2020-2024 Edge/Nautilus, 2020-2025 Explorer/Aviator/Escape/Corsair/F-150/F-Super Duty/Ranger/Transit/E-Series, 2021-2025 Bronco, and 2022-2025 Maverick vehicles may require an engine cooling system flush to be performed for various concerns. SSM 537592025-05-13. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER. After replacement of any TRON module, the gateway module (GWM) and the TRON capable modules can set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) U211A, U211B, U211C, U3034, U3035, U3036, U35D9, U35DA and/or U35DB if the secret authentication security keys are not aligned between the modules, a loss of communication is occurring between modules and/or a module is not responding. This may be a result of missing the new module secret authentication security key obtained when running the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) "Trusted Real-Time Operation Network (TRON) Module Authentication" procedure after replacement. When replacing a TRON capable module, run the FDRS "Trusted Real-Time Operation Network (TRON) Module Authentication" procedure in the GWM tool box, not in the toolbox of the module with the DTC's, to distribute a new set of secret authentication security keys to all TRON-capable modules. Using the specific vehicle identification number (VIN), refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 418-00 and 418-01 for updated DTCs, applicable TRON module listings and pinpoint tests.

This may be a result of missing the new module secret authentication security key obtained when running the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) "Trusted Real-Time Operation Network (TRON) Module Authentication" procedure after replacement. When replacing a TRON capable module, run the FDRS "Trusted Real-Time Operation Network (TRON) Module Authentication" procedure to distribute a new set of secret authentication security keys to all TRON-capable modules.
