Service bulletins for the 2018 Ford F-150

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 487892020-06-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE. Some 2018-2020 Model Year F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost engine may experience an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with DTC P2196 and/or P2198 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). Engineering is working to implement a solution for this condition. In the interim, clear the DTCs with the appropriate Ford scan tool and schedule a follow-up appointment with the customer for early July 2020. Advise the customer that a repair is expected to be available in June 2020 and that the condition has no effect on vehicle operation or long term durability.
20N012020-04-02. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Extended Warranty Coverage- In the affected vehicles, if water enters into the electrical system, it could cause the tailgate to unlatch.
TSB 20-20512020-03-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE/TRAILER:LPG SYSTEMS:TANK ASSEMBLY. Some 2017-2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine built at Kansas City Assembly Plant on or before 23-Feb-2018 or Dearborn Truck Plant on or before 26-Feb-2018 and Expedition/Navigator vehicles built on or before 19-Mar-2018 may exhibit an oil leak from the oil pan RTV seal. This may be due to a lack of RTV adhesion. This article includes detailed steps to achieve proper RTV adhesion. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the oil pan.
TSB 20-20342020-03-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE/TRAILER:LPG SYSTEMS:WATER HEATER; SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER. Some 2015-2019 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.3L, 3.5L Duratec, 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L engine and equipped with a block heater built on or before 1-Jan-2019 may exhibit a lack of heat concern from the heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system when operating the vehicle consistently in temperatures that are below -20Å’C (4Å’F). This condition may be due to deposits from the engine coolant becoming trapped in the heater core. To correct the condition, flush the cooling system and replace the heater core.
TSB-20-20282020-03-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:VACUUM; EQUIPMENT. Some 2013-2018 F-150/Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with 4-wheel drive (4WD) may exhibit an intermittent grinding noise while driving in 2-wheel drive (2WD) mode most commonly on acceleration. This may be due to a loss of vacuum to the integrated wheel end (IWE) actuators and/or wear of the IWE components. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to reprogram the transfer case control module (TCCM) and replace any worn vacuum and/or IWE components.
SSM 484042020-01-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Some 2017-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine, 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost or 5.0L engine, 2019-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.0L engine, and an externally controlled variable displacement compressor (EVDC) may exhibit a high pitched squeal or whistle type noise from the engine compartment after the engine is shut off. This condition may be due to the air conditioning (A/C) low side system pressure exceeding the high side pressure resulting in equalization of A/C system pressures through the EVDC A/C compressor. This noise is not detrimental to system operation or durability. Do not attempt diagnosis or repairs for this condition at this time. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates.
TSB 19-23412019-12-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; STRUCTURE. This article supersedes TSB 19-2285 to update the vehicle model years affected and Service Procedure. Some 2015-2020 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a glove compartment door that is difficult to latch on one or both sides or appears misaligned along the storage tray or right side instrument panel when closed. This may be due to the position of the glove compartment storage tray rubber mat or the seating of the glove compartment door strikers or glove compartment door hinge pins. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to reposition or adjust the affected component.
SSM 481522019-09-09. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Some 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a B and O audio system may exhibit a CD player that stops playing intermittently. This may occur after switching from CD to AM/FM and back to CD. This may be due unexpected or corrupt data from a radio broadcast signal. To correct the condition, reprogram the audio control module (ACM) using the latest software version of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 18C869 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Ensure the A/C system has a full charge prior to any compressor diagnostics. To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC compressor tool must be used, and the results recorded in the Technician comments field with the warranty claim. This tester will help reduce the potential for misdiagnosis and unnecessary compressor replacement. Refer to the Rotunda catalog for a video and user manual which provide detailed operating instructions.
