SSM 481352019-09-09. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Some 2013-2020 vehicles equipped with an EVDC air conditioning (A/C) compressor may exhibit poor A/C performance/improper climate function. To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC control valve tester has been provided to each U.S. dealership (339-EVDC100). Ensure the A/C system has a full charge prior to any compressor diagnostics. To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC compressor tool must be used, and the results recorded in the Technician comments field with the warranty claim. This tester will help reduce the potential for misdiagnosis and unnecessary compressor replacement. Refer to the Rotunda catalog for a video and user manual which provide detailed operating instructions.
SSM 478502019-05-07. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Some 2013-2019 vehicles equipped with a EVDC air conditioning (A/C) compressor may exhibit poor A/C performance/improper climate function and/or a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P06A0 in the powertrain control module (PCM). To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC control valve tester has been developed and is available from Rotunda (339-EVDC100). A tester has been provided to each U.S. dealership free of charge with shipments completed 19-Apr-2019 (reference EFC07013 on FMCDealer.com). This tester will help reduce the potential for misdiagnosis and unnecessary compressor replacement. Make sure that this tester is used for warranty repairs and document the test results in the Technician Comments field. Refer to the Rotunda catalog for a video and user manual which provide detailed operating instructions.
SSM 473352018-07-23. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Some 2017-2018 Escape and 2017-2019 MKC vehicles may exhibit a lack of A/C cooling performance during PDI. This may be due to a insufficient/low refrigerant charge. If a vehicle displays a lack of cooling performance during PDI, inspect for a leak. Refer to the diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412-00 for A/C leak detection. Many times when the system is only evacuated and refilled to the proper level at PDI the customer will return for a lack of cooling performance concern. A refrigerant leak will usually be identified as the root cause.
SSM 468752017-12-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2017 Escape vehicles may exhibit inoperative climate or radio controls with DTCs U2100, U0140 in the FCIM or DTC U0164 in the body control module (BCM). This may be due to loss of communication or incomplete module configuration. Before further diagnosis, complete a battery reset per the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 414-01. Clear the DTCs and complete a FCIM self-test. If the DTCs are no longer present, no further action is required. For claiming, use causal part 19980 and applicable labor operations in section 11 of the service labor time standards (SLTS) manual.
SSM 468252017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Some 2016-2017 Escape vehicles built on or before 01-Apr-2017 may exhibit a concern with the OAT reading inaccurate and/or the A/C inoperative. This may be due to water in connector C134(20 pin) in the left front fender apron. If a vehicle comes in with this condition, access connector C134 in the 14290 harness. Refer to Wiring Manual. Check connector C134 for corrosion and/or water contamination. If present, replace the pigtail harness (Refer to Pigtail Application Guide Under Repair Kits in the Wiring Manual) and add electrical grease (XG-12). For claiming, use causal part 14S411 and applicable labor operations in section 11 of the service labor time standards (SLTS) manual
SSM 464722017-05-22. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. SOME 2017 ESCAPE VEHICLES WITH ELECTRONIC MANUAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL (EMTC) AND FORD ORIGINAL ACCESSORY OR FIA SCALABLE REMOTE START SYSTEMS MAY EXHIBIT A CONCERN OF THE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND TEMPERATURE CONTROLS BECOMING LOCKED AFTER 5 MINUTES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED WITH THE REMOTE START SYSTEM. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND TEMPERATURE CONTROLS LOCK AND REQUESTS FOR AIR DISTRIBUTION AND TEMPERATURE CHANGES WILL NOT OCCUR. THE HEATING VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) CONTROLS CORRECTLY INDICATE WHEN CHANGES ARE SELECTED BUT THE REQUESTED AIR DISTRIBUTION AND TEMPERATURE CONTROL FUNCTIONS WILL NOT OCCUR. NORMAL OPERATION IS RESTORED WHEN THE KEY IS CYCLED. THIS CONCERN DOES NOT AFFECT BLOWER MOTOR OPERATION. ENGINEERING IS INVESTIGATING THIS CONCERN. MONITOR OASIS FOR UPDATES.
