Service bulletins for the 2022 Ford E-450

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 511202022-10-11. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Some Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit noise when the brakes are applied. When diagnosing and repairing brake noise conditions, use the Workshop Manual (WSM) and the appropriate pinpoint test in section 206-00. The brake rotors should only be machined if directed by the WSM because one or more of the following conditions are present on the braking surface: scoring, excessive corrosion/rust or pitting, bluing/discoloration and/or heat spots. For additional information, refer to WSM section 206-00.
SSM 509742022-08-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL; EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Some 2020-2022 Escape/Corsair/F-53 Motorhome/F-59 Commercial Stripped Chassis, 2021-2023 F-650/F-750/E-Series, and 2021-2022 Bronco Sport vehicles may exhibit a communication fault with emissions inspection equipment. This may be due to the software in the gateway module (GWM). To correct this condition, reprogram the GWM to latest software level using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. Use causal part 14F642 and applicable labor times from Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
SSM 509772022-08-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); EQUIPMENT; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Some 2021-2022 F-Super Duty and 2021-2023 E-Series vehicles equipped with a 6.2L or 7.3L gasoline engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0457 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a loose fuel filler cap. The fuel filler cap design has changed, requiring multiple turns to seal properly. Advise the customer to turn the fuel filler cap clockwise until there is at least one audible click to seal properly. For further diagnostics, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-13 - pinpoint test HX.
SSM 508042022-06-01. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2013-2023 Ford or Lincoln vehicles with modems activated through FordPass or LincolnWay may experience 12 volt battery drain symptoms when the customer uses non-Ford/Lincoln phone applications as an alternate channel to access vehicle commands such as door lock/unlock, remote start, vehicle location, etc. The battery drain may be caused by excessive calls for data through the vehicle network keeping it in an activated state. Recommend that the customer uninstall the app to ensure this is not contributing to battery symptoms experienced. Advise the customer that unaffiliated third-party app developers do not work directly with Ford to adhere to security, vehicle communication, and privacy requirements.
SSM 507332022-05-03. Service bulletin. TIRES:SIDEWALL. Some 2021 and 2022 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may experience a tire sidewall wavy/indentation appearance in the radial direction on one or both sidewalls. Sidewall wavy/indentation appearance is a common cosmetic characteristic of radial tire construction and will not affect the performance of the tire.
SSM 505662022-03-15. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some 2022 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may need to perform A/C leak detection diagnostics. The 2022 Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412-00 for A/C leak detection diagnosis is incomplete and is in the process of being updated. At this time, Pinpoint Test AN of Section 412-00 in the 2022 F-150 WSM can be used temporarily for the service procedure and specifications. Use the correct vehicle specific removal and replacement sections as needed. A new labor operation 19700A45 has also been released to align with the new procedure.
SSM 497852021-06-01. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP. Some 2021 F-Super Duty and 2021-2022 E-Series vehicles equipped with a 6.2L or 7.3L gasoline engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0457 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a loose fuel filler cap. The fuel filler cap design has changed, requiring multiple turns to seal properly. Advise the customer to turn the fuel filler cap clockwise until there is at least one audible click to seal properly. For further diagnostics, refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual, pinpoint test HX.
SSM 497782021-06-01. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP. Some 2021 F-Super Duty/F-650/F-750 and 2021-2022 E-Series vehicles equipped with a 6.2L or 7.3L gasoline engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0457 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a loose fuel filler cap. The fuel filler cap design changed for 2021 to require three full turns to properly tighten. Advise the customer of the design change. For further diagnostics, refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual, pinpoint test HX.
SSM 496922021-03-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BODY CONTROL MODULE/BCM. Some 2021-2022 E-Series vehicles built on or before 09-Mar-2021 may exhibit a Service Advance Trac and Pre-Collision Assist Not Available message in the cluster with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C0051 stored in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. Cruise control may also be inoperable. To correct the condition, reprogram the ABS module using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use causal part number 2C215 and applicable labor times in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
