Service bulletins for the 2023 BMW Z4

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

36 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

Warranty extensions
B0103242026-05-18. ENGINE. The EVAP systems purge (vent) valve limited warranty for defects in materials or workmanship has been extended to 15 years / 150,000 miles as determined from the original in-service date.

After prolonged straight-ahead driving (e.g. highway driving), there may be a temporary, slightly noticeable increase in steering forces when steering out of the steering wheel center position. This minimally noticeable increase in steering forces is perceived as a slight, brief resistance. After overcoming this brief resistance when steering out of the steering wheel center position, no permanent increase in steering forces is noticeable.
B5402252025-04-03. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY. While driving on an uneven road, a “clicking”sound is heard from the front bow/cowl panelarea of the convertible top.
B6401252025-03-03. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER. The customer may hear an intermittent “humming” or “foghorn” type sound in vehicle. It sounds like a lowhum that last for only a few seconds. This can occur with the engine operating or may be heard for up to one hour after engine shut down.

B3601212024-05-30. Service bulletin. STEERING. At low outside temperatures (below 40 degrees F) and slow driving speeds (i.e. when parking, maneuvering)with a large steering angle, the front end can be slightly axially misaligned.
B8104242024-05-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Certain vehicles with a Wireless Charging Tray installed may experience operation issues with ComfortAccess or remote functions.
B6404222024-03-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM. An interference noise (groaning noise) can be heard from within the heating and air-conditioning unit in thecenter of the instrument panel. The groaning noise always occurs when either a ventilation flap, air stratification flap or the recirculated airflap moves to a different position. Due to the complex design of the heating and air-conditioning unit, the kinematics causing it (top or bottom, left or right) may not be able to be precisely located. Depending on the vehicle model, the number of servomotors (and the associated kinematics unit) varies.Various models use either 2 or 3 servomotors.
B5108192024-02-01. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The basic conditions for initializing the power windows are not met.
B6105242024-02-01. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The Central Information Display goes black intermittently due to resets of the Head Unit (HU-H3). FaultB7F8F9 â“ âHU-H: Resetâ will be stored in the HU-H3.

B3601212024-02-01. Service bulletin. STEERING. At low outside temperatures (below 40 degrees F) and slow driving speeds (i.e. when parking, maneuvering)with a large steering angle, the front end can be slightly axially misaligned. This can be felt (jerking)/ heard via an acoustic acknowledgement (clunk) as seen at the 11 second mark of the video. See attached video V36 01 21.

On February 17, 2023 , the Delivery Stop was upgraded to a Non-Compliance Recall (see SI B84 01 23 ). SIB84 01 23 outlined a procedure for vehicles at that time which were- a) in BMW center inventory b) already delivered to customers This new SI B84 03 23 addresses vehicles which were in BMW center inventory or at the Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC) at that time. Those vehicles had the Key Card removed and were able to be retailed to the customer Such vehicles now need to return to the center to receive a new Key Card and updated programming. Please note that vehicles which were already in customer hands will be addressed by an update to SI B8401 23
