Service bulletins for the 2017 BMW 740e

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

359 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

B0110192024-07-02. Warranty extension. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM. Component-Specific Extended Limited Warranty (ELW) Issues with the fuel supply module/level sensor assembly and its related components, the fuel doorcover pot (ejector and drive), the filler flap (door) itself and/or the emergency release mechanism arenot included under this extended warranty coverage.
B1606232024-01-03. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Engine will crank but not start. There is no communication with the integrated fuel module (TFE) whendiagnosing with ISTA. The following two fault codes will be stored in the DME: 032B43 - Low fuel pressure system, electric fuel pump: pressure value too low CDA594 - Message (- 0x33E) missing, receiver DME, transmitter TFE
B1601232023-07-24. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. A vehicle arrives at your center to be diagnosed for a micro-leak in the fuel evaporative (EVAP) system (NVLD natural vacuum leak detection). For this condition, the following fault is stored in the DME: 190302 - fuel tank ventilation and scavenging air system, micro-leak: leakage more than 0.5 mm.
B1701212022-06-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. The quick disconnect coupling on the cylinder head coolant vent line could break at the cylinder head. This would lead to loss of coolant from the engine.
B5127202020-12-21. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP; STRUCTURE:BODY. FUEL FILLER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN: The fuel filler door (aka flap) will not open. In rare cases, if the vehicle is locked using the remote control key and the fuel filler door is pushed closed simultaneously, the fuel door can enter a locked state that cannot be unlocked.
B1706172020-04-20. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. COOLANT LEAK FROM LOW TEMPERATURE COOLING CIRCUIT (N63R): This Service Information Bulletin (Revision 5) replaces SI B17 06 17 dated June 2019. Traces of coolant leaking from the expansion tank of the low temperature cooling system. Coolant in the low temperature cooling circuit may also have an acrid smell and discoloration (1). Aluminum corrosion in the charge air intercoolers or in the radiator for the low temperature cooling is causing an unfavorable chemical reaction to the coolant.
B0110192019-12-16. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. F30 AND G12 PHEV FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR LTD WTY EXT TO 15 YEARS/150000 MILES. PHEV Special Requirement and Operation The PHEV fuel tanks are designed for the special requirements that arise from the hybrid operation for example operation of the vehicle alternates between the combustion engine and the electric motor. As a result excess pressure can build up due to the gasoline vapors this excess tank pressure must be dissipated before the fuel filler cap is opened. As outlined in the Refueling Procedure attachments the vehicle's operator performs a pressure equalization procedure to address the above situation. After this procedure is completed only then can the fuel filler flap (door) be opened to access and remove the fuel cap for refueling. Possible Concerns Even though the pressure equalization procedure has been performed/completed the fuel filler flap (door) still cannot be opened and/or related fuel tank readiness indicator (code) does not reset. The fuel tank pressure sensor may have failed and this could be the cause.
B6208192019-08-19. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. CC MESSAGE THAT FUEL TANK IS EMPTY AND RANGE IS ZERO WHILE THERE IS STILL FUEL: The customer states that sporadically the vehicle's remaining drive range is displayed as 0 miles even though the fuel level indicator (aka gas gauge) still indicates that there is sufficient fuel in the tank. There is also a Check Control message (CCM ID 286) displayed: "range 0. Please refuel" After the vehicle goes to sleep and restarts. The display functions normally. The correct remaining range is displayed Software error in the instrument cluster.
B6412182019-02-25. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. HEATING IN EDRIVE IS NOT AVAILABLE. No heater output in eDrive mode.
B1608182019-02-25. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. The fuel delivery unit (in-tank fuel pump) may be incorrect part installed for the Model/Market.
B1608182019-01-07. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. SERVICE ACTION: CHECK AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE FUEL DELIVERY UNIT. The fuel delivery unit (in-tank fuel pump) may be the incorrect part installed for the Model/Market.
B1608182018-11-26. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. SERVICE ACTION. CHECK AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE FUEL DELIVERY UNIT. The fuel delivery unit (in-tank fuel pump) may be the incorrect part installed for the Model/Market.
