Service bulletins for the 2013 Audi A4 allroad
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A001459 2029737- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 00 number 12-34 dated June 6, 2012. The process of draining oil through the drain plug is not always tidy. When oil is drained through the drain plug, the oil might spill on components around the oil pan area. If it is not properly cleaned up, this spilled oil could drip after the procedure is complete, causing unnecessary customer complaints. |
| A451408 2033412- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. STEERING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 45 number 13-07 dated September 25, 2013. Steering wheel does not lock. Various warning lights are on. Steering feels stiffer than usual. The engine cannot be switched off. The ignition key cannot be removed. There are DTC entries present in the system (either static or sporadic). DTCs with description ?Brake control module - no signal/communication? are present in several control units. DTCs are stored in the ABS control module. This condition does not result in any drivability concerns. The steering system is fully connected. The insulation for the ABS wheel speed sensor is damaged in production. Over time, this can lead to corrosion on the wires and restricted functions with the ABS control module. Only the wires in the left bulkhead grommet are affected. |
| A701442 2033711- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 70 number 13-30 dated April 25, 2013. Squeak or rattle noises from the instrument panel area. Due to the multiple components that comprise the trim assembly, the panel surrounding the instrument cluster, MMI display screen, etc. can create these noises over bumps or when flexing. |

| A911458 2035919- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-53 dated July 24, 2014. MMI 3G+ GPS location is inaccurate (MY13, MY14, & MY15). |
| A911459 2036607- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-42 dated April 30, 2014. The GPS location or vehicle direction indicated on the navigation map does not match the actual vehicle?s location or actual direction of travel. The condition can happen sporadically or consistently. The condition does not happen during or immediately following the initial PDI inspection (once the vehicle has been taken out of transport mode). It is normal for the satellite reception to be 0 immediately after taking the vehicle out of transport mode. With the ignition off, the vehicle must sit in open sky view for 10-15 minutes before a GPS fix can be obtained. The vehicle is a Model Year 2013. |
| A911463 2028190- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 13-08 dated September 20, 2013. The customer would like to add a different navigation map database for countries outside of the USA or Canada. The customer would like to change the MMI system language to a different language that is not already supported by MMI. When a song is being played and the track information for that song contains foreign language characters, the driver information system (DIS) in the cluster correctly displays the characters, but the MMI display does not. |
| A461357 2031135- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 12-26 dated October 23, 2012. The yellow warning for electromechanical parking park (EPB) appeared once in the instrument cluster. The warning turned off after the ignition was cycled, and there have not been additional occurrences. EPB function was not affected. The adaptive cruise control (ACC) was inoperative once, but it resumed proper operation after the ignition was cycled, and there have not been additional occurrences. DTCs are logged in the EPB control module. There is an issue with the software in the EPB control module that occurs one time. Because the issue only occurs once, replacing the control module could cause an additional occurrence. |
| A801304 2033806- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 80 number 13-03 dated May 13, 2013. Malfunction Indicator Lamp is on. Climate system heating performance is insufficient. Coolant level warning is on. Engine temperature is elevated. "Limp Home" mode is active. Faults are stored in the transmission control module. Coolant loss is found from one or more control valves: N82, N509, or N488. Coolant may have migrated into the wiring harness through the connector and into various control units. Climate system heating performance is insufficient due to coolant loss, or due to a faulty N82 control valve. Inspection of the coolant control valves N82, N509, or N488 reveals the presence of coolant inside the electrical connector. The connectors, wiring harness, and/or connected control units may have been damaged from exposure to coolant. |
| A961372 2035047- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST. Audi Lane Change Assistant deactivates or is sporadically inoperative when the vehicle is driven in slow-moving stop-and-go traffic, especially on roads with multiple lanes. The message "Audi side assist unavailable: Sensors blocked" appears in the driver information system. The system is able to be activated approximately ten minutes after the traffic condition is removed, or after an ignition cycle. Audi Lane Change Assistant can be activated without issue. No obstructions can be found. DTCs are stored in the Lane Change Assistance control module. The control module mounting brackets are securely fastened to the lower rear bumper, and no damage is found to the rear bumper area, on the inside or outside. (If any damage is found, it is not covered under warranty.) The control module mounting brackets are not broken or loose. If a loose bracket is found, repair as necessary using the Elsa Repair Manual. Submit a separate warranty claim, as this TSB does not cover this repair. The software of the Lane Change Assistance control module can deactivate the Audi Side Assist system in certain normal driving conditions because the nature of these driving conditions make it difficult for the Audi Side Assist system to track vehicles. |
| A971336 2034322- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:HORN; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:ANTI-THEFT DEVICES. The vehicle alarm activates for no reason and it cannot be turned off. The alarm horn does not work. TC/fault symptom combinations are found in the comfort system control module, J393 (address word 46). The DTC can be static or sporadic. The wiring harness insulation for the alarm horn can be damaged during the vehicle production assembly. Because the cable is routed through the plenum chamber, water can enter into the cable via the damaged insulation. The water causes the alarm to activate for no reason or it causes the alarm horn to not work. |
| A911392 2030947- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated September 25, 2012. The customer complains that when he or she is trying to place a phone call from the vehicle while using a Bluetooth®-connected phone, the phone call disconnects before it begins and an error shows on the MMI display. The message may be "Function not supported" or "Network error". The customer is using a phone with the Android operating system. In addition, Skype®, or another network-based communication software, is installed on the phone. Call can be placed directly from the phone without a problem. When the phone gets the request to place a call from the vehicle, a prompt appears on the phone asking the user to choose how the call should be placed. If the prompt is ignored, the MMI system disconnects the call assuming the phone is not responding. |
| A911388 2021780- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 10-70 dated October 26, 2010. Sequence of error messages are seen on the radio display screen after a CD was loaded into or removed from the internal CD drive. "Drive defective. The error could be corrected by resetting it (see radio system owner's manual). Otherwise, contact your Audi dealer." "The CD-drive is damaged and was therefore deactivated." The CD drive cannot be selected in the Source list and is described as "damaged." After the ignition is cycled or a radio reset performed, the CD drive is fully operational. DTC 00468 (CD-ROM Drive -R92- Faulty) is stored in the radio (address word 56). The DTC will be sporadic if the ignition has been cycled or a radio reset performed and will automatically be cleared after 40 ignition cycles without a reoccurrence. Only vehicles with the CAN-based generation 3 radio (Concert (PR 8UQ) or Symphony (PR 8YN)) are affected. |
| A551332 2023967- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:FRONT UNDERHOOD; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCH. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 55 number 13-30 dated May 28, 2013. "Low Oil Level" message is on in the DIS or MMI. The hood must be open for at least 30 seconds for a reset of this message to be performed. The message is not reset in the DIS/MMI because the hood has not been recognized as being opened due to an inoperative hood contact switch. |
| A531302 2034404- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE. Customer may report that the vehicle does not start due to a discharged battery. DTC U101100 (supply voltage too low) is stored in the gateway, J533 (address word 19), and/or the electronic parking brake (EPB) control module, J540 (address word 53). According to the test plan "19-Read Data Bus Keep-Awake Manager", the EPB control module kept the data bus active for prolonged periods of time. The EPB switch appears to be permanently operating (applying or releasing the parking brake) due to an internal mechanical issue or because it is jammed or blocked by debris or by a foreign object. Test plan "19-Read Data Bus Keep-Awake Manager", identifies the EPB control module as keeping the data bus active for prolonged periods of time. |
