| 10V260000 | 2010-06-14. STEERING. DTNA IS RECALLING CERTAIN 2002 THROUGH 2011 WESTERN STAR 4900 SA TRUCKS MANUFACTURER FROM DECEMBER 21, 2001 THROUGH JUNE 4, 2010. THE SPACER USED TO CONNECT THE AFT STEER AXLE IDLER ARM TO THE FRAME RAIL MAY DEVELOP CRACKS AND EVENTUALLY BREAK UNDER SEVERE STEERING CONDITIONS ALLOWING THE IDLER ARM TO SEPARATE FROM THE FRAME RAIL RESULTING IN DIMINISHED STEERING CONTROL. Built 2001-12-21 to 2010-06-04. |
|---|---|
| 04V120000 | 2004-03-08. STEERING:LINKAGES:DRAG:POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. ON CERTAIN TRUCKS AND TRUCK-TRACTORS EQUIPPED WITH TRW DRAG LINK ASSEMBLIES, THE REPLACEMENT CLAMP AND DRAG LINK ASSEMBLIES CONTAIN A POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE 5/8-11-GRADE B PREVAILING TORQUE HEX NUT. IF THE FINAL TIGHTENING IS LESS THAN 65 LB.-FT., THE CLAMP LOAD WOULD BE UNACCEPTABLY LOW AND COULD COMPROMISE THE INTEGRITY OF THE DRAG LINK. Built 2003-11-15 to 2004-01-12. |
| 2010201 | 2010-06-14. Steering. On certain twin-steer 4900SA vehicles, the spacer used to connect the aft steer axle idler arm to the frame rail may develop cracks and eventually break under severe steering conditions. This would allow the idler arm to separate from the frame rail, resulting in diminished steering control, which could lead to a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the tubular shaped spacer bracket with a solid spacer block. |
|---|---|
| 2005266 | 2005-09-14. Steering. On certain vehicles, the front hubs may fracture and allow the wheel assembly to separate from the vehicle. This could cause a crash without prior warning. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the hubs. |
| 2004085 | 2004-03-08. Steering. On certain vehicles, the TRW drag link clamp assembly may contain an improperly torqued hex nut. If the final tightening of this nut is less than 65 ft.lbs, the clamp load would be unacceptably low and could compromise the integrity of the drag link to the point where the ball socket could separate causing a loss of steering control which could result in a vehicle crash. Correction: Dealer will re-torque the drag link nut to between 70 and 85 ft.lbs. |
A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
