Service bulletins for the 2017 Tesla Model X

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Bulletins, newest first
SB-25-16-0032025-07-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. On certain Model S and Model X vehicles, the battery powered Pyrotechnic High Voltage (HV) Battery Disconnect will reach the end of its battery lifespan in the near future, which will trigger alerts and may limit the vehicle’s performance.
SB-22-11-002 R12024-06-20. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. One or both front door drive units and front door harnesses may require replacement due to corrosion.
SB-20-00-0012020-03-09. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Tesla is committed to continuous improvement of the security of its products and advises customers to always install the latest mobile app and vehicle software releases to remain as secure as possible. On approximately May 1, 2020, the Tesla connectivity network is undergoing enhancements for increased security, reliability, and scalability. In order for vehicles to maintain compatibility with and access to features requiring Tesla network connectivity (such as receiving future over-the-air software updates, accessing the mobile app and associated features, utilizing voice commands, receiving streaming media content, etc.), vehicles must be running software version 2019.40.2.3 or newer.
SB-18-17-010 R22020-02-10. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. On certain Model X vehicles, a plug in the 12V battery was not installed at the factory, or a Service Center installed a replacement 12V battery that lacks the plug.
SB-20-17-0012020-02-10. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. When some Autopilot HW2 and HW2.5 Model S, Model X, and Model 3 vehicles are near airport ASR-9 radar antennae, the vehicle cameras might be affected by electromagnetic interference, and Autopilot/camera alerts might be displayed.
SB-19-17-0142020-01-06. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT. Some Autopilot HW2 or later Model S and Model X vehicles with Tegra Media Control Units (MCUs) may emit a faint static noise coming from the tweeters on the A-pillar. The noise is generally heard when it is very quiet in the cabin (the vehicle is in Park with climate control and media player off, etc.).
SB-18-11-002 R12019-10-07. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. On some Model X vehicles, water might enter the door latches on the rear (Falcon Wing) doors, which can damage the electrical components integral to door latching operation.
SB1917005R12019-05-28. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE. On some Model X vehicles, a pinched electrical wiring harness at the liftgate might create an obstruction alert, causing the power function of the liftgate not to operate. The liftgate can still be manually opened and closed.
SB-18-15-0062018-10-15. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. On some Model X vehicles, incorrect routing of the intrusion sensor wires might result in electrical interference between the intrusion sensor and the intrusion sensor electrical control unit (ECU). The electrical interference causes the car alarm to activate, even if the vehicle is not being intruded.
SB-18-44-0022018-07-16. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. On some Model S and Model X vehicles with charge port part number 1026041-00-M or 1026041-00-N, the charge port insertion guide might prevent the charge port latch from fully engaging. If the charge port latch is not fully engaged, the charge port light is amber or orange, and maximum AC charge current is not allowed. Using a Supercharger is not allowed if the charge port latch is not fully engaged.
SB-18-17-010 R12018-07-16. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. On some Model X vehicles, a plug on the 12V battery was not installed at the factory, or a Service Center installed a replacement 12V battery that lacks the plug.
SB-17-16-0012017-08-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:TRACTION BATTERY. The 100 kWh HV battery on some Model S and Model X vehicles could lead to a no-start condition.
SB-15-16-003 R12017-08-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:TRACTION BATTERY; STRUCTURE:BODY. It is possible to accidentally break off the aeroshield support tab from the HV Battery. If the tab breaks, the mid aeroshield is not fully supported, reducing the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle. The operation of the HV Battery is not affected.
