Service bulletins for the 2017 Tesla Model 3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

154 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

SB22330022023-04-24. Service bulletin. ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL:AUTOMATIC (ASC); POWER TRAIN. Some Model 3 vehicles were built without a hydraulic control unit (HCU) wake-up wire, and in rare circumstances, braking and stability control related alerts may appear on the instrument cluster and touchscreen during the vehicle power-on process. Such faults can typically be corrected and the affected functionality restored with a vehicle power cycle.
SB-19-40-0022019-02-19. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DIFFERENTIAL UNIT; POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE. Certain Model 3 vehicles might have been manufactured without a rear drive unit (RDU) breather, and consequently might have contaminated gearbox fluid.
SB-18-40-0032018-07-16. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. On certain Model 3 vehicles, the rear drive unit gearbox fluid might leak into the printed circuit board cavity of the oil pump, causing the vehicle to go into limp mode.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
