Service bulletins for the 2014 Ram 1500
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| P13040214 | 2023-01-17. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. New Safety Recall Advanced Communication ? P13040214 Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) announced a safety recall on certain 2014 model year (DS) RAM Truck (1500 series). The transmission case may have an improperly machined park rod guide plate mounting surface. This could cause a loss of park rod guide plate fastener clamp load and eventually the park rod guide plate fasteners may loosen. A loose park rod guide plate and fasteners may not allow the park pawl to fully engage. This condition could cause unintended vehicle movement and cause a crash without warning. Chrysler will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all involved vehicles to inspect the transmission case. Transmissions found with an improperly machined park rod guide plate mounting surface must be replaced. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established methods used in the past. We ask that you please take the time to ensure that your personnel are aware of this communication and are prepared to execute a customer friendly process for inquiries on involved vehicles. |

| 9003704 | 2023-01-09. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN. Transmission Oil Pan, Heater (TMU), Tube or O-ring Applies to vehicles equipped with 8 speed transmissions only; if you have a leak that appears to be at the pan the use of proper leak detection is recommended. The fluid in the 8 speeds can be detected with a black light and there are aftermarket spray on leak detection materials to help ensure that the leak is properly diagnosed and not from another location such as cooler lines, heater tubes, or case porosity. Please note that the transmission pan gasket is available for many of the 8 speed applications FCA offers. Please review the available quick connect and transfer tube parts, as replacement of the TMU may not be required. If a TOC line connection is found to be the source, the quick connect may need replacement. If the leak source is coming from the connection of the TMU to the transmission, the transfer tube may need replacement. When parts are returned to the QEC the retaining clips (snap ring) for the quick disconnect fittings are missing. (This leaves a question as to whether the clips were missing from the assembly plant, or the technician removed them in order to make line removal easier.) Please return the clips with the transmission heater and note if they were not there to begin with. For any questions regarding transmission heater, contact FCA Redacted Content. If no response in 15 minutes, proceed with repair. |

Customer complaints may include abnormal engine noise, rough idle, lack of power, misfire. Upon investigation, it may be found that there is excessive camshaft lobe wear/lifter wear (roller failure) on one or more cam lobes and that camshaft/lifter replacement is necessary. |

| 18-015-15 | 2022-09-26. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING; POWER TRAIN. Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illumination And/Or Intermittent No Crank No Start This bulletin involves inspecting the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) system for excessive water and/or ice and drying the CAC components if needed. It also involves installing a winter front cover. A small number of customers may experience a MIL illumination when ambient temperatures fall below 32°F (0 °C). Upon further inspection, a technician may find the ? P0299 - Turbocharger Underboost Condition ? U1424 - Implausible Engine Torque Signal Received In addition, a customer vehicle may come in with a no crank/no start. This may have occurred after the vehicle has been driven for an extended period of time in extremely low ambient and then allowed to sit overnight. Further diagnosis may indicate a possible inoperative starter. A possible cause of these concerns may be contributed to internal icing of the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) system and intake manifold. Icing will occur because warm, moist air from the turbo charger is being rapidly cooled and the moisture is then condensed into liquid by the CAC. The liquid is then distributed into the rest of the intake system, which is operating at ambient temperature, where it will then freeze. Vehicles that are driven for extended periods of time are susceptible to higher amounts of ice build up within the intake manifold. Once the vehicle is turned off and allowed to sit, the ice formation in the intake will begin to melt due to the elevated underhood temperatures. The moisture will then run down the intake runners and accumulate in the combustion chamber through an open intake valve causing the engine to hydro-lock. To help prevent icing in the CAC system when the vehicle is operated in low ambient temperatures, it is highly recommended that the vehicle have winter front cover installed. This raises the CAC outlet temperatures above freezing which will help reduce condensation build up. |

| 9004009 | 2022-09-26. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Transmission Kit with Torque Converter 1. All Promaster (VF) 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles. If the transmission bracket to the transmission case fasteners are removed during servicing, the fasteners (Part Number 06511385A$) are one-time usage. Vehicles built prior to 10/23/2015 requires Service Kit PN 68461214AA; includes Transmission Isolator PN 68264483AA, and Adaptation Bracket 68264479AA and Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA Vehicles built after on or after 10/23/2015 will require only the Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA. 2. All 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles. If the vehicle you are repairing has a crack in the flex plate or failed pump bushing inspect and confirm that both (2) dowel pins are present in the engine block, which align the transmission center line to the crank shaft centerline and visually inspect the dowel alignment holes in the transmission case. If the holes are damaged or elongated the transmission should be replaced to prevent further damage to the transmission/flexplate or pump bushing due to the inability to properly align the engine to the transmission during the repair. 3. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If pump bushing is scored or damaged and the dowel pin alignment holes are ok, replace the pump assembly as opposed to complete transmission. 4. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If vehicle is jerking/slipping with MIL code(s) P0740 or P2764, check TCC Solenoid operation. If TCC Solenoid is ok, the codes are indicative of a torque converter failure. Replace the torque converter. |
