Service bulletins for the 2017 Porsche Cayenne
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 122-B6P3D-03 | 2018-03-13. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. Symptom: Hard or jerky gear changes. Cause: This is caused by the transition phase when changing from the engaged gear to the target gear. Various components of the powertrain affect the shifting quality. Remedial Action: In the event of a customer complaint, use PIWIS Tester III with software 36.400.020 (or higher) installed to: ? re-program and code the Tiptronic control unit via "Automatic programming" and ? reset the adaptation values. |
| 122-A6Z3V-03 | 2018-03-13. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE (EGR VALVE). Subject: Intake valves and intake ports Information: Carboned-up valves in the engine can be reworked and cleaned using cleaning equipment. If there is a complaint about knocking combustion, e.g. during acceleration at high load, the condition of the intake valves and portsmust be checked before doing any other work. If the check shows that the intake valves and intake ports have carbon deposits and are dirty, they must be cleaned using the VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit. There should be no need to replace the components. Date of Introduction: The VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit can be ordered immediately for dealers. Remedial Action: The VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit is used for cleaning carboned-up intake valves and intake ports. Compressed air is used to spray a special granulatemixture into the intake port, where it loosens and removes carbon build-up. The dirty granulate is extracted during spraying using an industrial vacuum cleaner. |
| 122-M3B5L-03 | 2018-03-13. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:TRANSFER CASE (4-WHEEL DRIVE). Cause: Clicking noises can come from around the transfer case when manoeuvring the vehicle (or driving slowly) due to activation of the transfer case servo motor. Remedial action: Before doing any other work, the symptommust be simulated using a test procedure. (Opening the door windows can be helpful when evaluating noises). 1 Conditions for the first test procedure: ? Activate the Start/Stop function and ? deactivate all sources of noise in the vehicle (Entertainment, ventilation, etc.). ? A multi-storey car park can be useful for acoustic reverberation. ? Onastraight stretch ? fromspeeds less than 10mph (20 km/h) ? brake the vehicle to a standstill. ? The best way of finding the clicking noise is by driving slowly and then stopping the vehicle. |
| 122-J8L7U-03 | 2018-03-13. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Customer Concern: The customer observes a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). (Note: Typically, this MIL is the only symptom of this issue.) Technical Concern: The technician confirms the MIL and notes P0C4700 is present in the high-voltage battery. Service Information: New guided fault finding appears in PIWIS tester version 37.000 and higher. Please follow the instructions given in this resource before proceeding with the information in this ATI. |
| 122-E9N4X-01 | 2018-01-29. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Optimized software for Porsche Communication Management (PCM) 4.0 has been used in standard production in order to further improve the general performance of the system. These optimizations must be implemented retrospectively even for vehicles manufactured before the date of introduction. Action Required: ? Update PCM software using an SD card ? Re-code the PCM using PIWIS Tester test software version 34.800.030 (or higher |
| 122-T7Y5Q-12 | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Information: This document updates information previously published in EQ 1105, EQ 1105, and EQ 1401. To provide stable voltage and sufficient current throughout certain service operations, you should connect the vehicle to a battery charger (sometimes referred to as a power supply). However, you may experience ECU programming and coding issues if the chosen battery charger has insufficient power. Many workshop manuals currently advise use of a battery charger with a 40 or 70 A current rating. However, with the increasing current requirements of modern Porsche vehicles, we recommend a battery charger capable of producing a minimum current of 90 A. |
| 122-N6B7V-12 | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. STEERING. Cause: Clicking noises can come from around the transfer case when manoeuvring the vehicle (or driving slowly) due to activation of the transfer case servo motor. Remedial Action: Before doing any other work, the symptom must be simulated using a test procedure. (Opening the door windows can be helpful when evaluating noises). 1 Conditions for the first test procedure: * Activate the Start/Stop function and * deactivate all sources of noise in the vehicle (Entertainment, ventilation, etc.). * A multi-story parking garage can be useful for acoustic reverberation. * On a straight stretch * from speeds less than 10mph (20 km/h) * brake the vehicle to a standstill. * The best way of finding the clicking noise is by driving slowly and then stopping the vehicle. |
