Service bulletins for the 2017 Porsche Cayenne

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

587 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

122-T5P5F-072017-10-27. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Information: Converting transfer cases that are still in stock to the new type before installing themin customer vehicles.
122-E3D6M-122017-10-25. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Due to incorrect sealing of the electric plug connection on the transfer case servo motor, moisture can get into the connector. As a result, the contacts can become corroded. In the event of a customer complaint, check the plug connection on the servo motor and the servo motor itself for damage: ? If the electric plug connection on the transfer case servo motor is corroded, replace section of cable including electric plug connection using a repair kit. ? If the servo motor is damaged, replace section of cable including electric plug connection and transfer case servo motor.
122-W6E3D-032017-10-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. No cooling in the passenger compartment. NOTE: A low state of charge of the High Voltage Battery can cause the AC to be deactivated until the state of charge increases to an adequate level. Customers who do not plug their vehicle in on a regular basis may have this issue. There are two shut off valves in the refrigeration circuit. 1. The chiller shut off valve is normally open and requires 12V be applied to it from the AC control unit to close it. This would stop cooling of the high voltage battery. a. Power and ground from the AC CU can be checked at the connector of the valve. 2. The evaporator shut off valve is normally closed and requires 12V to be applied to it, via a relay, in order for the valve to open and provide cooling to the passenger compartment. a. The evaporator shut off valve can be diagnosed easily by removing the relay and jumping the load contacts of the relay to see if power makes it to the valve. Power at the valve opens it and the evaporator gets cold with normal AC operation. b. The relay winding circuit can be tested for power and ground from the AC CU.
122-P6P7K-102017-10-15. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Converting transfer cases that are still in stock to the new type before installing themin customer vehicles. The optimized transfer case is used during production from week 31/2016. If the transfer case needs to be replaced, check the part number of the new transfer case. If the transfer case is the old type, it must be converted to the new type before doing any other work. Conversion to the new type involves: ? Fitting a new protective ring on the front output drive (sometimes also referred to as "dust boot"), ? Fitting a new vent connection (breather adapter) ? Retrofitting a vent line in the vehicle.
122-Q3V5G-102017-10-15. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Cause: Clicking noises can come from around the transfer case when manoeuvring the vehicle (or driving slowly) due to activation of the transfer case servo motor. Remedial Action: Before doing any other work, the symptommust be simulated using a test procedure. (Opening the door windows can be helpful when evaluating noises). 1 Conditions for the first test procedure: ? Activate the Start/Stop function and ? deactivate all sources of noise in the vehicle (Entertainment, ventilation, etc.). ? A multi-story parking garage can be useful for acoustic reverberation. ? Onastraight stretch ? fromspeeds less than 10mph (20 km/h) ? brake the vehicle to a standstill. ? The best way of finding the clicking noise is by driving slowly and then stopping the vehicle.
122-G8Z4D-102017-10-15. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH. Information: A Cayenne with optional equipment no. 1D6 will come with a Trailer hitch receiver and wiring up to the receiver hitch that includes a control unit to operate the trailer parking lights, turn signals and brake lights. The Cayenne is also pre-wired for a brake controller. You will need to do the following to hook up the trailer electrics and/or an electric brake controller:
122-A3L7Z-102017-10-15. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Technical Concern: The technician confirms the MIL and notes P0C4700 is present in the high-voltage battery. Service Information: In many cases, technicians noted one or more of the following root causes: a) Corrosion on Ground Pin 6B (See figures 1 and 2.) b) Corrosion on the connector to the secondary low temperature coolant pump. c) A bad ground or otherwise unsound wiring.
122-E3D6M-122017-10-15.
122-W8J3S-092017-09-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Technical Concern: Porsche designs plug-in hybrid vehicles to protect the health of the high voltage battery. One way the vehicle does this is by disabling high electrical load features when the high voltage battery has a low state of charge.
122-A4N7P-092017-09-14. Service bulletin. TRAILER HITCHES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL.
122-U5S5J-092017-09-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Information: During the packaging of a High Voltage Lithium Ion battery, copies of The test log for classification of lithium-ion high voltage batteries (located in PIWIS - Standard Forms) must be attached inside the box and to the document bag on the exterior of the box as per the Workshop Manual 2X00IN Packing non-critical high-voltage battery (970, 971, 92A) or Workshop Manual 2708IN Packaging instructions for high-voltage battery (918)
122-Q5C4S-062017-07-28. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING. Issue: Oil in the wiring harness. Information: If oil is found in the engine wiring harness during a repair, the wiring harness and all the affected components (including the oil pump control valve) must be replaced.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
