Service bulletins for the 2013 Porsche Cayenne

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

517 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

122-A5L9U-042018-04-23. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Information: Analysis has shown that traces of oil found in the hydraulic pump or tandempump area are not always caused by a Pentosin leak in the pump. In the event of a complaint about traces of oil in the hydraulic pump or tandem pump area,
122-A6Z3V-032018-03-13. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE (EGR VALVE). Subject: Intake valves and intake ports Information: Carboned-up valves in the engine can be reworked and cleaned using cleaning equipment. If there is a complaint about knocking combustion, e.g. during acceleration at high load, the condition of the intake valves and portsmust be checked before doing any other work. If the check shows that the intake valves and intake ports have carbon deposits and are dirty, they must be cleaned using the VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit. There should be no need to replace the components. Date of Introduction: The VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit can be ordered immediately for dealers. Remedial Action: The VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit is used for cleaning carboned-up intake valves and intake ports. Compressed air is used to spray a special granulatemixture into the intake port, where it loosens and removes carbon build-up. The dirty granulate is extracted during spraying using an industrial vacuum cleaner.
122-M3B5L-032018-03-13. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:TRANSFER CASE (4-WHEEL DRIVE). Cause: Clicking noises can come from around the transfer case when manoeuvring the vehicle (or driving slowly) due to activation of the transfer case servo motor. Remedial action: Before doing any other work, the symptommust be simulated using a test procedure. (Opening the door windows can be helpful when evaluating noises). 1 Conditions for the first test procedure: ? Activate the Start/Stop function and ? deactivate all sources of noise in the vehicle (Entertainment, ventilation, etc.). ? A multi-storey car park can be useful for acoustic reverberation. ? Onastraight stretch ? fromspeeds less than 10mph (20 km/h) ? brake the vehicle to a standstill. ? The best way of finding the clicking noise is by driving slowly and then stopping the vehicle.
122-T3F3A-012018-01-29. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Subject: Ensuring the quality of vehicles following storage Information: Due to the Stop Sale for Cayenne Diesel vehicles, pre-owned vehicles were stored for a long time at the dealerships.
122-T7Y5Q-122017-12-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Information: This document updates information previously published in EQ 1105, EQ 1105, and EQ 1401. To provide stable voltage and sufficient current throughout certain service operations, you should connect the vehicle to a battery charger (sometimes referred to as a power supply). However, you may experience ECU programming and coding issues if the chosen battery charger has insufficient power. Many workshop manuals currently advise use of a battery charger with a 40 or 70 A current rating. However, with the increasing current requirements of modern Porsche vehicles, we recommend a battery charger capable of producing a minimum current of 90 A.
122-N6B7V-122017-12-14. Service bulletin. STEERING. Cause: Clicking noises can come from around the transfer case when manoeuvring the vehicle (or driving slowly) due to activation of the transfer case servo motor. Remedial Action: Before doing any other work, the symptom must be simulated using a test procedure. (Opening the door windows can be helpful when evaluating noises). 1 Conditions for the first test procedure: * Activate the Start/Stop function and * deactivate all sources of noise in the vehicle (Entertainment, ventilation, etc.). * A multi-story parking garage can be useful for acoustic reverberation. * On a straight stretch * from speeds less than 10mph (20 km/h) * brake the vehicle to a standstill. * The best way of finding the clicking noise is by driving slowly and then stopping the vehicle.
122-J4H9M-122017-12-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ENGINE. Situation: Cayenne Diesel vehicles were equipped with undisclosed Auxiliary Emission Control Devices which are not permitted by emissions regulations. Action Required: Install updated engine control module (DME) software, transmission control module (Tiptronic) software and hardware to bring affected vehicles into regulatory compliance.
122-Z3X2N-122017-12-14. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Information: FC00001E for right side rear lid strut is set in the Rear Lid Control Unit. The actual fault may be in the left rear lid strut. Information for Workshop: The cause could be software or moisture in the Rear Lid Control Unit. If moisture is suspected, check the lid thoroughly for leaks.
122-N9F6H-012017-12-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Information: The customer complains that certain functions of the front camera are not available at times: * Lane Change Assist not available * Porsche Dynamic Light System not available * Traffic sign recognition not available Cause: Image sensor fault in the front camera. Insufficient contrast causes certain functions to fail at times.
122-D2Y3E-012017-12-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER. The turbocharger is damaged by detached parts of the cracked inner part of the manifold. A faulty turbocharger is diagnosed due to loss of power and when the "Check Engine" warning is activated. However, a faulty turbocharger can also be diagnosed if the inner part of the manifold is damaged.
122-Q5N4V-102017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Reworking Connector on Engine Coolant Level Sensor for Low-temperature Cooling System (Red "engine coolant level" warning message in the instrument cluster/SY2215)? Contact problems with the installed plug contacts in the connector for the engine coolant level sensor on the coolant reservoir (low-temperature cooling system). ? Fluctuations in resistance in the signal chain between the rear-end electronics control unit and the line at the engine coolant level sensor connector (low-temperature cooling system). ? No corresponding fault code is entered in the rear-end electronics control unit fault memory.
122-F7A7X-102017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. The rear lid closes at a higher speed particularly at cold temperatures. The signal from the microswitch in the lid lock is too short and cannot be read out clearly by the control unit software.
