NPSB20-590 CVT R2020-06-08. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. CVT Repairs Repair Recommendation: Dealers are advised to use all diagnostic information available in the ESM, TSBs, and ASIST to determine the appropriate repair for a customer’s concern. Nissan recommends CVT assembly replacement be offered whenever diagnostics have led a dealer to determine a belt and pulley sub assembly repair will resolve a customer’s concern and the vehicle time in service or mileage is equal to or greater than 84 months in service or 84,000 miles. This recommendation provides longer-term durability for customer satisfaction. Customers required to pay out-of-pocket for these repairs may still choose belt and pulley sub assembly repair in lieu of CVT unit replacement if they prefer that option. Note: This recommendation only applies to belt and pulley sub assembly repairs. Do not recommend CVT unit replacement when the diagnosis is for software updates or control valves.
CVT Owner Letter2020-06-08. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Dear Nissan Sentra Owner: Thank you for being a Nissan owner. We strive to provide you with an excellent ownership experience that includes confidence in your vehicle’s performance, features and overall reliability. To that end, Nissan is extending the limited warranty covering your continuously variable transmission (CVT) to 7 years/84,000 miles, whichever comes first. This warranty extension is being provided as an owner satisfaction effort to address concerns, including those expressed by plaintiffs in class action litigation. This CVT warranty extension covers your CVT assembly (including internal CVT components, gaskets, and seals, CVT control valve body, and torque converter), cooler kit (if applicable), and any necessary software updates. Coverage of other vehicle components remains unchanged, and all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of Nissan’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty continue to apply. What You Should Do This extended warranty coverage is effective immediately. You do not need to take any further action. The Sentra with the Vehicle Identification Number listed at the top of this page is covered by this extended CVT warranty. If you seek coverage for a repair under this extended warranty, you will need to bring your vehicle to an authorized Nissan dealer. The factorytrained technical staff at the Nissan dealer will have the diagnostic tools and knowledge to provide you with the appropriate service and submit your warranty claim As you take care of yourself and your family during the COVID-19 crisis, we know that your vehicle may play a key role. Sentra_Versa_Alt2019-11-08. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. CVT Class Action Owner Notification Attention: Dealer Principal, Sales, Service & Parts Managers In early November, current and former owners and lessees of the following vehicles will receive a postcard from a Settlement Administrator informing them of the terms of a proposed class action that, subject to final court approval, could extend the warranty on the CVT for the following vehicles: 2012-2017 Versa Sedan (N17) 2014-2017 Versa Note (E12) 2013-2017 Sentra (B17) 2013-2016 Altima (L33) 2013-2017 Juke (F15) The proposed settlement (including the proposed warranty extension) is still subject to final approval by the court presiding over the proposed settlement. The court will determine if the settlement will be approved at or shortly after a hearing that is scheduled for March 6, 2020. To be clear, unless and until the proposed settlement is approved by the presiding court, there is no warranty extension and you should proceed with CVT-related claims as outlined below in #3 under what dealers should do. The proposed settlement, and the associated potential warranty extension, include many terms and conditions. Rather than attempting to address questions about the proposed settlement terms from customers, it is strongly recommended that you refer customers to the websites and/or telephone numbers listed below so that they can receive information from appropriate sources and in order to avoid providing incorrect and/or incomplete information. The telephone numbers and websites should be active by November 1, 2019. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. No action is necessary at this time.
