Service bulletins for the 2009 Nissan Cube

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

P9241 2008-09 Ro2021-06-12. Service bulletin. WHEELS. Expiration Notification – Wheel Valve Stem Nut ***** Campaign Summary***** In 2009, Nissan launched a Voluntary Service Campaign on certain 2008-2009 Rogue, 2009 Murano, and 2009 cube® vehicles registered in states that do not use heavy concentrations of road salt in the winter, to replace the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) nut with new, more corrosion resistant ones. Nissan determined the material used in the nut on the Rogue, cube®, and Murano that secures the TPMS sensor to the wheel was not manufactured to specification and may corrode and potentially crack if driven regularly in areas where a heavy concentration of road salt is used. If this occurs, the nut may come out of the sensor causing the TPMS lamp to illuminate. If the TPMS lamp is disregarded, and the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, the tire can quickly lose air pressure resulting in a flat tire. This customer service campaign and customer reimbursement for these repairs are no longer available. The expiration of this Voluntary Service Campaign has no effect on the status of Voluntary Safety Recall R0909. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Service Comm will deactivate P9241 on any unrepaired VINs on May 13, 2021. No further dealer action is required.

NTB14057A2021-05-10. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:FLUID/LUBRICANT. SERVICE INFORMATION The information in this bulletin is provided to help ensure correct diagnosis and repair of fluid leaks. All fluid leaks, when properly diagnosed, should be repaired (whether under warranty or customer pay) to ensure proper vehicle operation. However, certain normal operating conditions can be misdiagnosed as a leak requiring repair. Unnecessary repair or replacement of parts in connection with incorrectly diagnosed "leaks" can negatively impact customer satisfaction, be time consuming and costly, and if not performed correctly can lead to future repairs. See this bulletin for further detail.
NTB150602021-05-10. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES; WHEELS; BACK OVER PREVENTION; STEERING; EQUIPMENT. SERVICE INFORMATION When servicing run flat tires or low profile tires: - Special equipment and procedures are required to avoid damage. - Specifically, Tire Pressure Monitor transmitters (TPMS sensors) can be damaged when improperly dismounting and mounting tires. - TPMS sensors becoming damaged during mounting or dismounting tires are not covered under warranty. - To avoid such damage, ensure that the tire changer being used and the operator of the tire changer is capable of servicing run flat and low profile tires. - Operator?s manuals for such tire changers must be followed. See this bulletin for further detail.
NTB150552021-05-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL. SERVICE INFORMATION After ECM reprogramming, the Calibration Verification Number (CVN) needs to be automatically calculated prior to State emissions testing (also known as Inspection Maintainence, I/M, or SMOG testing depending upon location). Allowing the vehicle to idle for 22 minutes will allow for faster CVN calculation. It is recommended that customers utilize this method if the vehicle needs to be tested for emissions soon after ECM reprogramming. See this bulletin for further detail.
NTB99060G2021-05-10. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. SERVICE INFORMATION NOTE - Failure to follow the procedures in this bulletin may result in the denial of a warranty claim. In an effort to protect the paint finish, Paint Guard Film (PGF) is applied on many new Nissan vehicles. Paint Guard Film is a temporary white plastic protective film that is applied by the factory to the horizontal painted surfaces of the vehicle. The PGF protects the paint finish during vehicle handling, transportation and storage from harmful elements such as acid rain, iron particles, bird droppings, tree sap and other environmental contaminants. NOTE - Paint Guard Film CANNOT remain on the vehicle for more than six months after the vehicle's manufacture date. PGF must be removed at the end of six months. See this bulletin for further detail.
NTB00042D2021-05-10. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS; BACK OVER PREVENTION; EQUIPMENT. SERVICE INFORMATION Changes or modifications to the front seat assembly trim materials may affect the proper operation of the Front Seat-Mounted Side-Impact Supplemental Air Bags and Passenger Occupant Classification Sensor and could result in serious personal injury or death. Nissan STRONGLY RECOMMENDS AGAINST making any change to seat trim materials from the factory equipped condition. This specifically applies to replacing the seat trim with non-factory materials; adding leather/cloth seat covers, seat pads, or seat storage pouches, etc. around or over the seat back and the passenger seat cushion. See this bulletin for further detail.

Nissan Original Equipment or Genuine Accessory Alloy wheels, along with their finish coating (clear, chrome, titanium, etc.), are specifically developed to achieve Nissan design and performance standards. These Original Equipment or Genuine Accessory wheels are subjected to testing to ensure they meet Nissan's standards. Nissan Original Equipment Alloy or Genuine Accessory wheels subjected to aftermarket chroming may no longer continue to meet these standards and may be seriously damaged. Therefore, Nissan most strongly discourages, and recommends that these wheels NEVER be subjected to, aftermarket chroming. See this bulletinfor further detail.
