Service bulletins for the 2007 MINI Cooper
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| M210114 | 2018-11-13. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; POWER TRAIN. Dual Mass Flywheel: Diagnosis and Inspection. INFORMATION The following three criteria must to be checked, evaluated and the resulting findings documented on the repair order prior to replacing a dual-mass flywheel as defective: 1. Total rotational angle at no load condition (with applied torque less then 20 Nm) 2. Secondary plate longitudal axial play 3. Friction surface appearance changes due to thermal overload. PROCEDURE Refer to the attached "Dual-mass Flywheel Inspection" document for the complete inspection procedure. The dual-mass flywheel replacement is justified only if one or more of the following criteria are met: 1. The total rotational free-play measured at the flywheel gear ring is: Equal to or greater than 3 tooth gaps on N14/N18-equipped engines; Equal to or greater than 14 tooth gaps on B38/B46/B48-equipped engines. 2. The secondary plate total axial bearing play measured at outside diameter of the flywheel is: Equal to or greater than 3 mm on N14/N18-equipped engines; Equal to or greater than 5 mm on B38/B46/B48-equipped engines. 3. Significant discoloration in the adjoining area outside the friction ring, or a severe ablation/erosion of the friction area, is present. WARRANTY INFORMATION Warranty claims for replacing a Dual Mass Flywheel are subject to denial or debit when it is determined that the diagnostic procedures outlined above were not followed. | M130114 | 2018-11-13. Service bulletin. ENGINE; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. "N14 and N18 Engine: High-pressure Pump Repair Instruction. INFORMATION The current version of ISTA/D Repair Instruction 13 51 017, ""Removing and installing or replacing high-pressure pump (N14, N18)"" has a procedure error. The current version of the Repair Instruction states to replace the high-pressure supply hose on the N14 engine. The Repair Instruction also states not to replace the high-pressure supply hose on the N18 engine. The N18 portion of the Repair Instruction is incorrect. As an interim solution, follow the procedure outlined below until this portion of the Repair Instruction is corrected. https://www.minitis.net/tiscode/cgi-bin/bulletin.aspx?sie_path=/tsb/bulletins/htm_store/159...2/5/2014 Page 2 of 2 Bosch High-pressure Pump (1): All vehicles equipped with the N18 engine and produced from 3/2012 and later When the engine is fitted with a Bosch High-pressure Pump (1), the highpressure supply hose (2) MUST NOT be replaced when making repairs. The remaining portion of the Repair Instruction and tightening torques is correct. Refer to EPC for the applicable part numbers when making repairs." |
| M120114 | 2018-11-13. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE. N16: Fault 274D Mixture Adaptation Is Stored in the DME. Certain low speed, light-load driving conditions at lower outside temperatures could cause the Service Engine Soon lamp (MIL) to illuminate. The following fault would be stored in the DME: ??Fault 274D: Mixture adaptation, lower engine speed range (mixture too lean) CAUSE 1. Possible intake/exhaust leaks, or a faulty component as listed in the test plan 2. Unfavorable DME software. |
| M110413 | 2018-11-13. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Service Action: N14 Engine Check Timing Chain Tensioner and Timing Chain. The timing chain tensioner applies pre-tension to the timing chain guide rail mechanism. In some cases, the tensioner spring force may be too low. Depending on the severity of the wear, it may lead to a rattling noise when starting the engine cold or when the engine is idling. CAUSE The timing chain tensioner internal tolerances are not consistent. |
| M110112 | 2018-11-13. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. "N16 and N18 Engine Oil Leak. The customer states that a small engine oil leak can be seen from the underside of the engine. CAUSE The internal sealing of the oil pump volume control solenoid valve is compromised, allowing engine oil to leak from the oil pump volume control solenoid. DIAGNOSTIC Below is the procedure for identifying how far the engine oil has migrated inside the engine electrical harness, when this issue occurs, if at all. The procedure must be followed very carefully so that the proper repair is identified. 1. Disconnect the oil pump volume control solenoid valve electrical connection per Repair Instructions 11 41 519 ""Removing and installing or replacing the solenoid valve (engine oil pump)."" Inspect the electrical connector; if no engine oil is found inside the electrical connector, perform the oil pump volume control valve repair procedure. If engine oil is found inside the electrical connector, proceed to diagnostic procedure step 2. 2. Remove the cover from the DME and remove all three electrical connectors from the DME. Inspect the connectors for traces of engine oil. If no engine oil is found, perform the oil pump volume control valve repair procedure and replace the engine section of the wire harness. Refer to EPC for the additional part number. If engine oil is found in the DME connector, proceed to step 3. 3. If engine oil is found in the DME electrical connector, perform the oil pump volume control valve repair procedure, replace the engine section of the wire harness and replace the DME. Refer to EPC for the additional part numbers. Do not remove the engine oil pan. Do not replace the oil pump volume control valve. Do not replace engine oil pump.
