Service bulletins for the 2016 Mazda MX-5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 02-001/22 | 2022-04-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; SUSPENSION. Some vehicles may exhibit a clunk noise from rear suspension when driving at low speeds and/or turning due to the rattling of the bush of the upper lateral link in the rear hub support. Dimensional variation of the bush boots in the rear hub support may cause insufficient sealing which allows water to enter the rear hub support, resulting in rust on the pillow-ball. The rust then accelerates the pillow-ball wear and causes a gap between the body and the bearing, resulting in the clunk noise during driving. To eliminate this concern, the boots in the rear hub support have been modified to improve sealing. |
