Service bulletin 09-017-21-3808

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some customers may experience the MAZDA CONNECT rebooting or the screen turning black under any temperature. When the concern occurs, MAZDA CONNECT reboots repeatedly, and if the SD card is removed during this reboot cycle, the rebooting cycle ends. This is caused by some SD cards for the MAZDA CONNECT navigation system being manufactured with improper hardware, resulting in a data reading error. To correct the concern, the SD card hardware has been changed.

DESCRIPTION If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery, engine no start, DTC(s) stored...), interview the customer before proceeding with normal MGSS diagnosis by asking if any aftermarket devices have been installed. Aftermarket devices may be the cause of the electrical concern. Below are a few examples of unusual electrical concerns caused by aftermarket devices. Examples: 1. Devices connected to the DLC-2 (battery discharge/DTC stored) 2. Devices plugged into the 12V outlet 3. GPS tracking device (engine no start/battery discharge) 4. Dash cam (DTC stored) 5. Non-certified USB cable (Apple Carplay™/ Android Auto™ will not connect) 6. Over-sized wheels/tires (incorrect GPS location) 7. DTC C0023:14 8. SA-021-262026-05-05. Service bulletin. This Service Alert supersedes the previously issued SAs and bulletin(s) listed below: The changes are noted below in red. SA-010/23 02/09/23 DESCRIPTION Some customers may experience one or more electrical malfunctions after a vehicle body repair. A newly painted fender stay (2) may be causing a poor front harness (1) ground connection. The front fender stay (2) newly painted surface at ground point (3), where attachment bolt (4) is seated, may create a poor front harness ground connection. NOTE: DO NOT paint ground point (3) attachment bolt (4) is seated. NEWLY INSTALLED FRONT FENDER STAY NOTE: CAUTION: If the bolt (4) contact area (3) is painted when the front fender stay (2) is newly replaced, it could cause a malfunction in the PCM. Before painting a newly replaced part, protect the bolt (4) contact area (3) with masking tape (5) as shown in the figure.

Some vehicles may exhibit the power window(s) not working properly (window does not move or has fallen into the door) and/or making an abnormal noise while operating the power window switch. This may be caused by the cable of the power window motor being damaged from water entry through area (1) of the front beltline molding. Convertible Top: To eliminate this concern, the shape of the door glass has been modified during mass production to prevent water entry to the power window regulator. Retractable Hardtop: No mass production change is scheduled.
09-005-262026-02-03. Service bulletin. If the right-side Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) control module is replaced for any reason, it is also necessary to replace the left-side BSM control module in order to complete the radar aiming procedure. If the right-side BSM control module is replaced alone, "Automatic Configuration" and "BSM Radar Aiming" cannot be completed due to a programming error in the module. In most cases, if the left-side BSM control module is replaced alone, "Automatic Configuration" and "BSM Radar Aiming" can be completed without any problem (See CAUTION below for more details). Other possible symptoms that may be found if the right-side BSM module is replaced alone: BSM aiming fails “BSM OFF" indicator ON Center Display warning message BSM failsafe (No operation) DTC U3000:54 stored in memory DTC U1A4B:54 stored in memory (CX-3, MX-5 only) NOTE: Since a new BSM control module does not retain the vehicle specification information, it is necessary to acquire and store the vehicle specification information transmitted via CAN communication from the combination meter through automatic configuration after replacement.
