Service bulletins for the 2015 Mazda Mazda3
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 02-005-19-3503a | 2019-05-30. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:FRONT:SHOCK ABSORBER; SUSPENSION. Some vehicles may experience a creaking noise from the front shock absorber when going over bumps. Upon inspection, the coil spring is found to be broken at the lower part without any trace of an accident. It may be found during maintenance or service opportunity without customer complaints. Mud and sand caught between the coil spring and the lower spring seat causes paint damage on the coil spring, resulting in rust holes and uneven force application. To correct this issue, the shape of the lower spring seat has been modified. |

| SA-016-19 | 2019-04-25. Service bulletin. WHEELS; SUSPENSION:FRONT:WHEEL BEARING. There have been warranty claims submitted for noise in differentials, transfer units and transmissions where the source of the noise was a wheel bearing. This misdiagnosis can lead to multiple repair attempts, warranty debits, and additional inconvenience and/or cost to the customer. To reduce the chance of this occurring, please follow the steps outlined in the repair procedure. |

| 01-008-19-3568a | 2019-04-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Some customer using “Flexible” setting for Oil Change in the maintenance monitor may notice that the oil change due notification will not work due to improper control logic of the PCM. The PCM clears the TRAVELED DISTANCE at the wrong time while the ELAPSED DAYS and the DETERIORATION DETERMINATION work as designed. To correct this issue, the control logic of the PCM has been changed. |
| SA-001-19a | 2019-03-29. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. APPLE CARPLAY™ / ANDROID AUTO™ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ). Many frequently asked question and the answers. |
| 09-015-19-3578 | 2019-03-29. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR. Some customers may complain that the rear door seaming welt (1) comes off when stepping in and/or out of the vehicle. This is caused by the gripping force of the seaming welt being insufficient for frequent usage of the rear seat (vehicle used for ride sharing). No mass production change is planned. |
| 05-002-19-3576 | 2019-03-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY. Some customers may complain of a whining noise from the automatic transaxle when driving at 10 mph and above. The noise: •Depends on the vehicle’s speed only (the more speed, the more noise)•Occurs with all types of driving (acceleration, deceleration, steady speed)•Does not depend on rpm, gear, or ATF temperature. This is caused by a damaged bearing in the transaxle due to improper configuration of the transaxle case. A modification has now been implemented on automatic transaxles with the following serial numbers: •7TN0820364 and higher (CX-3) / 8TN1090104 and higher (except CX-3) •8TR1008883 and higher •8TD1003276 and higher •8T50331192 and higher (CX-3) / 8T50329705 and higher (except CX-3). |
| 03-001-19-3505b | 2019-03-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT. Some vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the right front driveshaft at the automatic transaxle when driving. This concern is likely to occur when driving at speeds between 37-50 mph (60-80 km/h) with the ATF at normal operating temperature. The noise is caused by stick/slip between the oil seal at the transaxle and the dust cover of the driveshaft. To correct this issue, the thickness of the dust cover has been increased. |
| 00-003-19-3583 | 2019-03-21. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. In support of the new MRT distribution, Mazda will ship to dealers a new Dual Purpose Diagnostic Leak Detector beginning March, 2019. Training videos will be posted to MGSS shortly and Workshop Manual procedures will be revised gradually. |
| 09-003-19-3555a | 2019-03-20. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TAIL LIGHTS. Some customers may complain of condensation/fog inside the front (headlamp/headlight) or rear (taillamp/taillight) combination lights. The recent new models have been fitted with a clear lens which can cause the symptom to be more noticeable, however, it does not affect the performance of the light. This condensation/fog is a natural phenomenon that occurs when there is a fairly large temperature difference between the inside and the outside of the light housing. It is normal for very small water drops to appear in certain locations on the light units where the air is stagnant (condensation), making the lens look whitish (fog). This happens mostly in the corners and narrow spaces, and will typically clear during warmer ambient temperatures, or when the lights have been on for some time. |
| 09-010-19-3577 | 2019-03-11. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience one or more electrical malfunctions after a vehicle body repair. The newly painted fender stay (2) may be causing a poor front harness (1) ground connection. |
| 06-001-19-3575 | 2019-03-11. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some vehicles may exhibit an unusual noise (clacking) from under the front of the vehicle. This noise only occurs when starting to move the vehicle while the steering wheel is fully turned to the driver-side (left side for LHD vehicle and right side for RHD vehicle). NOTE: The noise will not occur if the steering wheel is in the center or to the full passenger-side position. The noise is caused when the edge (A) of the inner ball joint (B) gets stuck with the steering gear housing(C). To eliminate the noise, a spacer (A) has been installed between the inner ball joint (B) and the steering gear housing (C) (both sides) to prevent direct contact. |
| 05-001-19-3538 | 2019-03-11. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION. When pressing the START/STOP button in very cold weather, the ignition may not turn off on some vehicles equipped with a lock release button (1) on the selector lever knob. Although the selector lever is in the "P" position and the engine shuts off normally, the ignition may stay on (in accessory mode). NOTE: This TSB only applies if the selector lever knob is BHN2-46-030* or BHN4-46-030* with the lock release button. If not, this TSB does not apply. This may be caused by the lock release button in the selector lever knob sticking in the pressed position. An improper production process is causing an internal part to expand with moisture and interfere with other parts. To eliminate this concern, the production process has been modified. |
| 01-008-19-3568 | 2019-03-11. Service bulletin. ENGINE; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Some customer using "Flexible" setting for Oil Change in the maintenance monitor may notice that the oil change due notification will not work due to improper control logic of the PCM. The PCM clears the TRAVELED DISTANCE at the wrong time while the ELAPSED DAYS and the DETERIORATION DETERMINATION work as designed. To correct this issue, the control logic of the PCM has been changed. |
| MT-012-18 | 2019-03-04. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY; STEERING. If a vehicle has body vibration or steering wheel shimmy while driving and the root cause is determined to be tire balance, re-balance the tires using a Hunter GSP9700 or equivalent balance machine. If your dealer does not have a GSP9700 or equivalent balance machine, sublet the vehicle out for repair. To find the location of a GSP9700 near your dealer, visit Hunter?s web site at www.gsp9700.com and click on ?Locate a GSP9700 Road Force Balancer.? |
| MT-002-18 | 2019-03-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may complain about improper operation of the MAZDA CONNECT system when streaming music with audio source aha/Pandora/Stitcher/Bluetooth® and the same device is also connected to the USB port for charging. The concerns may include: Blank Screen and/or No Audio Sound, Phone will not charge.Blank Screen and/or No Audio Sound These concerns may be caused by:The MAZDA CONNECT system has reached its capacity limits when streaming music with audio source aha/Pandora/Stitcher/Bluetooth® and also connected to the USB port. The MAZDA CONNECT system has reached its capacity limits when the customer's USB device capacity exceeds 16 GB (e.g. 64 GB iPhone X). The MAZDA CONNECT system USB port capacity is 16 GB (FAT32).Mazda recommends not to connect any devices to the USB port when streaming music with audio source aha/Pandora/Stitcher/Bluetooth®. When streaming music with audio source aha/Pandora/Stitcher/Bluetooth® (without USB connection), the Connectivity Master Unit (CMU) is able to process Bluetooth® digital data (A) and output audio sound and display Bluetooth® audio information. If the same device is connected to the USB port for charging, the CMU processes both Bluetooth® digital data (A) and USB digital data (B) from the same device at the same time. In this case, CMU resources may be exceeded, causing a Blank Screen and/or No Audio Sound. |
| 09-009-19-3566 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer's responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometer and related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the "Speedometer Replacement Label". Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda's vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO's services, it is possible that the odometer will be set between 10 to 31 miles over the odometer mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs. Please make sure that the customer is aware that there may be a slight variance to the odometer, in which case the customer may have to accept the slightly higher mileage. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after-warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense. |
