Service bulletins for the 2015 Mazda Mazda3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SA-012-232023-04-04. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM; VISIBILITY. Some customers may report an odor or water in the HVAC system and upon inspection, the cabin air filter may be found to be wet.
07-002-19-3616a2019-12-20. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. A musty/mildew type odor may come from the vents when the air conditioning (A/C) system is operating. It is most noticeable when the A/C is first turned ON. This odor is the result of mold growth in the A/C evaporator/cooling unit which is caused by condensation, dust, and pollen within the cooling unit. This condition is usually worse during high humidity conditions. “Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating” is available to encapsulate the mold to reduce odors. If the product is properly applied, it can effectively reduce the musty/mildew odor for up to three years. NOTE: See parts information for Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating and Kit part numbers.
07-005-19-36322019-09-23. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Some customers may complain about no cool air from the vents when the air conditioner (A/C) is ON. This concern may be caused by A/C refrigerant leaking from the evaporator at the joint between the tubes and the header due to improper brazing. To correct the problem, the configuration of the header has been changed to improve the brazing performance in this area.
07-002-19-36162019-08-01. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. A musty/mildew type odor may come from the vents when the air conditioning (A/C) system is operating. 07-002-18-34322018-05-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. A musty/mildew type odor may come from the vents when the air conditioning (A/C) system is operating. It is most noticeable when the A/C is first turned ON. This odor is the result of mold growth in the A/Cevaporator/cooling unit which is caused by condensation, dust, and pollen within the cooling unit. This condition is usually worse during high humidity conditions. "Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating" is available to encapsulate the mold to reduce odors. If the product is properly applied, it can effectively reduce the musty/mildew odor for up to three years. NOTE: See parts information for Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating and Kit part numbers. This treatment provides a durable coating that will aid to prevent biological reactions that lead to odorconcerns. It is applied to the evaporator in a misted form that is introduced by way of the cabin air filter, the re-circulate door, the blower motor resistor access, or the blower motor air intake. Proper application requires the evaporator surface to be: Relatively clean and free of leaves, dust build-up and debris. Thoroughly dried, and the product cured onto it after application. NOTE: Keep the cooling unit dry by leaving the blower fan ON (at least on low), even if the A/C is not being used. In low humidity (dry) conditions, keep the ventilation system in the "FRESH" mode all the time, or as much as possible. In high humidity conditions, or if the air has a lot of dust or pollen, keep the system in the "RECIRCULATION" mode. A few minutes before reaching a destination, turn the A/C OFF, but leave the blower fan ON. This stops the accumulation of condensation on the evaporator/cooling unit, and it helps dry the inside of the cooling unit. A/C odor is not unique to Mazda vehicles as it will occur in other makes and models. To minimize A/C odor, suggest the following to the customers.
07-007-17-33842017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Some customers may complain about poor heater performance even after the engine reaches normal operating temperature. This may be caused by a clogged heater unit. For Mazda6 and CX-5, the check engine light may illuminate with the DTC P011A:00 stored at the same time. P011A:00 ECT sensor No.1/No.2 performance problem. NOTE: Refer to TSB 01-015/15 if the customer is using a block heater at temperatures below freezing.
07-003-15-2992A2017-06-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMPLAIN THAT THE AIR TEMPERATURE FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER WILL NOT CHANGE WITH THE AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL KNOB, AND MAY BE ACCOMPANIED BY SOME RATTLE NOISE FROM BEHIND THE DASH BOARD. THIS CONCERN MAY BE CAUSED BY THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL LINK BEING PULLED OUT OF THE HVAC HOUSING. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL LINK HAS BEEN MODIFIED.
07-003-15-29922017-05-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT AIR TEMPERATURE FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER WILL NOT CHANGE BY THE AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL KNOB, AND MAY BE ACCOMPANIED BY SOME RATTLE NOISE FROM INSIDE OF THE DASH BOARD. THIS CONCERN MAY BE CAUSED BY THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL LINK BEING PULLED OUT OF THE HVAC HOUSING. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL LINK HAS BEEN MODIFIED.
07-002-16-3196A2017-02-22. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMPLAIN THAT THE AIR FROM THE VENTS IS NOT COLD WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON. THIS COULD BE CAUSED BY DUST GENERATED DURING POLISHING OF THE A/C PIPES AT PRODUCTION REMAINING IN THE PIPES DUE TO INSUFFI-CIENT WASHING. THE DUST THEN CIRCULATES IN THE A/C SYSTEM CAUSING THE CONDENSER TO CLOG AND THE A/C SYSTEM TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THE POLISHING PROCESS OF THE A/C PIPES HAS BEEN IMPROVED TO MINI-MIZE THE GENERATION OF DUST.
