Service bulletins for the 2014 Mazda Mazda3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

02-005-17-3013g2017-08-10. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION; SUSPENSION:FRONT:SHOCK ABSORBER; STEERING. Some vehicles may exhibit one or more of the following noises from the front suspension. A squeaking noise from the front shock absorber when turning the steering wheel at a vehicle standstill caused by stick-slip between the front strut bearing and the coil spring. A popping noise from the front shock absorber when passing over speed bumps caused by the bump stopper contacting the strut bearing when the shock absorber is compressed. A creaking noise from the lower arm when driving over road bumps at 20-40 km/h caused by stick-slip of the front lower arm bushing. The noise occurs when the road surface is wet or after a car washing, and becomes more noticeable as the speed bump gets higher. To correct these problems, the following changes have been made. For the squeaking and popping noise, the shape of the bump stopper has been modified and a protector has been installed onto the coil spring. For the creaking noise, the friction of the lower arm bushing has been reduced by adding a dry coating.
02-006-13-2804a2017-08-10. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:FRONT. Beginning with the newer models (CX-5 and Mazda6), grip type front and rear stabilizer bushings (A) have been incorporated for noise prevention purposes. If any type of grease or lubrication is applied to the bushings, it may create noise due to bushing slippage (CX-5 front bushings shown below).
02-001-16-30132017-06-09. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:FRONT:SHOCK ABSORBER. SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT ONE OR BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING NOISES FROM THE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER.• A POPPING NOISE WHEN PASSING OVER SPEED BUMPS.• A SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AT A VEHICLE STANDSTILL.TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THE SHAPE OF THE BUMP STOPPER HAS BEEN MODIFIED AND A PROTECTOR HAS BEEN INSTALLED ONTO THE COIL SPRING.
02-001-15-2998A2017-06-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM. SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A CREAKING NOISE FROM UNDER THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS. THE NOISE OCCURS AT APPROX. 12 - 25 MPH (20 - 40 KM/H) WHEN THE ROAD SURFACE IS WET OR AFTER A CAR WASH. THE NOISE BECOMES MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN DRIVING OVER HIGHER BUMPS. THE CREAKING NOISE IS CAUSED WHEN THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHING(S) (A) BECOME WET.
02-004-15-3013A2017-06-07. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:FRONT:SHOCK ABSORBER. SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT ONE OR BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING NOISES FROM THE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER. • A POPPING NOISE WHEN PASSING OVER SPEED BUMPS. • A SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AT A VEHICLE STANDSTILL. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THE SHAPE OF THE BUMP STOPPER HAS BEEN MODIFIED AND A PROTECTOR HAS BEEN INSTALLED ONTO THE COIL SPRING.
02-005-16-3152A2017-05-30. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:FRONT:STABILIZER BAR. BEGINNING WITH THE CX-5 AND MAZDA6 MODELS, GRIP TYPE FRONT AND REAR STABILIZER BUSHINGS HAVE BEEN INCORPO-RATED FOR NOISE PREVENTION PURPOSES. IF ANY TYPE OF GREASE OR LUBRICATION IS APPLIED TO THE BUSHINGS, IT MAY CREATE NOISE DUE TO BUSHING SLIPPAGE.
02-004-15-30132017-05-19. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:FRONT:SHOCK ABSORBER. SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT ONE OR BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING NOISES FROM THE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER. • A POPPING NOISE WHEN PASSING OVER SPEED BUMPS. • A SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN URNING THE STEERING WHEEL AT A VEHICLE STANDSTILL. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THE SHAPE OF THE BUMP STOPPER HAS BEEN MODIFIED AND A PROTECTOR HAS BEEN INSTALLED ONTO THE COIL SPRING.
02-001-16-3013D2017-02-28. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING NOISES FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION.•A SQUEAKING NOISE FROM THE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AT A VEHICLE STANDSTILL CAUSED BY STICK-SLIP BETWEEN THE FRONT STRUT BEARING AND THE COIL SPRING.•A POPPING NOISE FROM THE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WHEN PASSING OVER SPEED BUMPS CAUSED BY THE BUMP STOP-PER CONTACTING THE STRUT BEARING WHEN THE SHOCK ABSORBER IS COMPRESSED.•A CREAKING NOISE FROM THE LOWER ARM WHEN DRIVING OVER ROAD BUMPS AT 20-40 KM/H CAUSED BY STICK-SLIP OF THE FRONT LOWER ARM BUSHING. THE NOISE OCCURS WHEN THE ROAD SURAFCE IS WET OR AFTER A CAR WASHING, AND BECOMES MORE NOTICEABLE AS THE SPEED BUMP GETS HIGHER.TO CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS, THE FOLLOWING CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE.•FOR THE SQUEAKING AND POPPING NOISE, THE SHAPE OF THE BUMP STOPPER HAS BEEN MODIFIED AND A PROTECTOR HAS BEEN INSTALLED ONTO THE COIL SPRING. •FOR THE CREAKING NOISE, THE FRICTION OF THE LOWER ARM BUSHING HAS BEEN REDUCED BY ADDING A DRY COATING.
02-013-16-32322017-02-22. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING OVER A ROAD BUMP. THIS MAY BE CAUSED BY THE BUMP STOP (BOUND STOPPER) FOR THE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER COMING OUT OF THE MOUNTING RUB-BER. TO ELIMINATE THE CONCERN, THE BONDING AGENT AND THE AREA TO BE COVERED HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO INCREASE THE BONDING STRENGTH BETWEEN THE BUMP STOP (BOUND STOPPER) AND MOUNTING RUBBER.
