Service bulletins for the 2017 Mazda CX-9
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| MT-003-19 | 2019-10-30. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may complain about high engine oil consumption. Before attempting any repairs, verify the complaint by using the guideline below to determine if an engine repair is necessary: |
|---|---|
| MT-002-19 | 2019-10-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:MANIFOLD/HEADER/MUFFLER/TAIL PIPE. If an engine assembly is replaced after a catastrophic internal mechanical failure, clean the intake manifold internally before installing a replacement engine assembly. If the intake manifold is not cleaned properly, the replacement engine may fail prematurely. Metallic debris from the old engine (with catastrophic internal mechanical failure) may rest inside the intake manifold. When the new engine assembly is installed, debris in the intake manifold will be ingested into the new engine and cause internal damage. |
| SA-040-19 | 2019-09-23. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may complain of a lack of power under heavy load without any warning lights or DTCs. This concern may be due to a loose or detached hood weatherstrip, which can cause a blockage or restriction in the air intake system. |
| 07-004-19-3631 | 2019-09-23. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; EQUIPMENT. Some customers may complain that 1) the air conditioner is not cold enough or 2) the cabin is cold, but the fan speed stays on high and there is noise coming from the blower motor or 3) it is difficult to adjust the driver/passenger side ventilation grill so that the air flows directing to the driver’s/passenger’s face. The following may be the cause: 1) The A/C compressor ON/OFF control is not operating correctly, causing a problem with the air temperature control. 1) The air conditioner may not be cool enough due to inadequate amount of the refrigerant, due to leakage or overcharging. 2) The control of the amount of air blown is incorrect. 3) The adjustable range of the side ventilation grills is not appropriate. |
| 09-033-19-3590 | 2019-08-21. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION. Some vehicles may exhibit the rear parking sensor beeping without any obstacles behind it when the shift lever is shifted into Reverse. This concern only occurs when the rear USB power outlet (1) is broken. This is caused by noise from USB interference with the harness of the rear parking sensor (when the USB power outlet is broken). To correct this issue, the configuration of the USB power outlet has been changed to improve durability. |
| 09-031-19-3625 | 2019-08-15. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. After the installation of a new instrument cluster, the message "Fctry" or “Factory” is displayed instead of the odometer. This concern may also occur when a room fuse is installed in a new vehicle. Some new instrument clusters are in the factory mode setting. Factory mode cancellation is required. NOTE: The concern is applicable to Calsonic Kansei instrument clusters. Not all trim levels are affected. |
| 07-002-19-3616 | 2019-08-01. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. A musty/mildew type odor may come from the vents when the air conditioning (A/C) system is operating. It is most noticeable when the A/C is first turned ON. This odor is the result of mold growth in the A/C evaporator/cooling unit which is caused by condensation, dust, and pollen within the cooling unit. This condition is usually worse during high humidity conditions. "Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating" is available to encapsulate the mold to reduce odors. If the product is properly applied, it can effectively reduce the musty/mildew odor for up to three years. |
| SA-031-19 | 2019-08-01. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may complain about incorrect MAZDA CONNECT clock time. This may be caused by an incorrect clock GPS Sync setting. |
| SA-030-19 | 2019-08-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER. While inspecting turbocharger housings, you may see cracks (fractures) as shown below. The cracks do not affect engine performance or cause any noise, so replacement is NOT necessary. |
| SA-029-19a | 2019-08-01. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. The database error discovered with IDS 114.00-114.02 release has been fixed with IDS 114.04 release and is now available for download. |

| SA-003-19 | 2019-08-01. Service bulletin. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA; FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE. Some vehicles may have one of the following DTCs stored in memory: C1001:92 - Forward sensing camera (FSC) poor field of view. B14F0:92 - General temporary failure in forward sensing camera (FSC). DTC C1001:92 or B14F0:92 set as a past record for low visibility of the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC). It does not mean there is an actual FSC defect. In some cases the customer may have a concern with the Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) and/or High Beam Control system (HBC). In other cases this DTC might be found without a related customer concern.NOTE: Instrument Cluster Multi-Information Display Warning Messages vary depending on vehicle year/model. To correct the problem, some mass production changes have been implemented to reduce contamination and improve the DTC diagnostic logic. NOTE: If the vehicle also has a delayed engagement concern, this TSB is not applicable. Refer to the instructions on MGSS (SLOW ENGAGING AFTER OPERATING SELECTOR LEVER FROM N TO D POSITION [FW6A-EL/FW6AX-EL]) or (SLOW ENGAGING AFTER OPERATING SELECTOR LEVER FROM N TO D POSITION [EW6A-EL/EW6AX-EL]) for proper diagnosis and repair procedure. |

While stopped with the transmission in Park position, some vehicles may exhibit concerns that the liftgate unlatches itself without pressing the liftgate opener switch (1) or it will not unlatch when pressing the liftgate opener switch (1). NOTE: The liftgate (power or manual type) will not unlatch or open by itself while the vehicle is being driven. This concern can only occur while the vehicle is stopped and in the Park position. This concern may be caused by water entry into the liftgate, through the garnish mounting area or outer panel. Condensation water may enter into the liftgate and drip onto the liftgate opener switch causing corrosion. The corrosion may create a poor contact or short in the liftgate opener switch. To eliminate this concern in the future, the structure of the liftgate opener switch has been improved. |
