Service bulletins for the 2019 Mazda CX-5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| SA-005-19 | 2019-03-11. Service bulletin. ENGINE. A tapping/rattling noise may be noticed from the valve train area. This condition usually occurs after the engine has been turned off at normal operating temperature and then not warmed up to full operating temperature during the next series of cold starts. This operating condition can occur, for example, on new vehicles which have been delivered to Mazda dealers (due to loading and unloading from transport trucks or customers moving their vehicles in and out of their garages to wash the vehicle, etc.) |

| 01-007-19-3541 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE. When the engine is started for the first time after parking the vehicle overnight in cold conditions (below 32 degrees Fahrenheit / 0 degrees Celsius), some vehicles may exhibit a rough idle and/or the check engine light on with any of the following DTC(s) stored in memory. P0300 - Random misfire detected P0301 - Cylinder No. 1 misfire detected P0302 - Cylinder No. 2 misfire detected P0303 - Cylinder No. 3 misfire detected P0304 - Cylinder No.4 misfire detected. This may be caused by frozen water accumulated in the main silencer, restricting exhaust flow. |
| 01-005-19-3548 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may exhibit the check engine light on with DTC P0456 stored in the PCM memory. P0456: EVAP system leak detected (very small leak). The concern is most likely the result of the customer not getting the fuel cap completely closed after fueling the vehicle. This causes a small fuel vapor leak and turns DTC P0456 on. |
| 01-004-19-3558 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. On some vehicles, a sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor may be noticed coming from the exhaust system. The odor is usually noticed after a cold start, fast idle, extended periods of idling and full throttle acceleration. Sulfur smell is not an indication of an engine concern and will not cause reduced driveability or durability of the engine or any of its emission components. The sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor is caused by high amounts of sulfur in the gasoline being used in the vehicle. Sulfur is normally eliminated during the refining process, but the EPA regulation of sulfur in gasoline differs from state to state. Vehicles using fuel containing high amounts of sulfur will most likely emit sulfur smell from the exhaust system. When high sulfur fuel is burned, there is a chemical reaction in the catalytic converter causing the sulfur tooxidize. As the vehicle is driven, the oxidizing reaction odor in the converter will decrease with mileage and age. |
| 01-003-19-3557 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some vehicles may experience the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON with DTC P2610 and P2507 stored inmemory after engine start and room fuse 15A (A) removed. P2610:00: Instrument cluster internal engine off timer performance problem P2507:00: PCM battery voltage low input As a past malfunction, the customer will not notice it (no warning light illuminated), but the DTC may be found during a vehicle service. P2507 in this situation is only applicable on 2016 and later models. This is caused by the engine being started 3 or more times after a short duration of engine off (less than 15 seconds) with the room fused removed. NOTE: The odometer will display "F0-002" during transport mode (room fuse 15A removed). Transport mode is canceled when room fuse 15A is installed or the vehicle odometer is more than 12.4mi (20km). Vehicles in dealer inventory with this concern should be repaired using the following repair procedure. |
| MT-009-18 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. If an oil pressure inspection is needed on a SKYACTIV-G engine, use the Special Service Tool (SST) set shown below and refer to the instructions on MGSS online: CX-3: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0] ), MX-3: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0] ), Mazda6: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5] ), Mazda3: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] ), CX-5: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION)] ). If the Special Service Tool (SST) set above is not available at your dealership, an aftermarket Engine Oil Pressure Gauge can be used along with a locally sourced Oil Pressure Switch Adapter, like the one shown below. |
