09-034-18-3430a2018-11-13. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer's responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometer and related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the "Speedometer Replacement Label". Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda's vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO's services, it is possible that the odometer will be set between 10 to 31 miles over the odometer mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs. Please make sure that the customer is aware that there may be a slight variance to the odometer, in which case the customer may have to accept the slightly higher mileage. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after- warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense.
09-020-18-3458b2018-11-13. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; EQUIPMENT. 01-021-18-3514a2018-11-13. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some vehicles may experience a lack of power and the check engine light on with DTC P61B:00 stored in the PCM memory when driving in high temperatures at high elevations. DTC P061B:00 - [PCM] Internal control module torque calculation performance problem. This concern may be caused by improper PCM control logic. The engine torque calculation error may increase in high temperatures at high elevations. To eliminate this concern, the PCM software has been modified.
01-019-18-35252018-11-13. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some vehicles may experience a check engine light on with DTC P0172:00 stored in the PCM memory. This normally occurs during the fast idle immediately after starting the engine or after the fast idle lowers to a normal idle. DTC P0172:00 - Fuel trim system too rich. Due to improper PCM control logic, the fuel injection amount may be improperly compensated when the engine start is not smooth and due to low quality fuel.
00-003-18-3480a2018-11-13. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; EQUIPMENT. Mazda North American Operations has approved an additional on-car brake lathe as an option for MNAO authorized equipment. The Pro-Cut On-Car Brake Lathe has been added to the MNAO authorized equipment program. NOTE: Accu-turn is still an approved brake lathe, but it is no longer available for purchase from our vendor. IMPORTANT: Rotors must be machined using a Mazda approved on-car brake lathe, or warranty claims are subject to denial or debit.
00-001-18-3446a2018-11-13. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; EQUIPMENT. Mazda has developed factory recommended scheduled maintenance services that support all major vehicle systems. Mazda recommends dealers follow the scheduled maintenance tables as cited in the vehicle- specific workshop manual or owner's manual. Services performed outside of Mazda's factory scheduled maintenance are not recommended. These services are unnecessary and create unneeded expenses for your customers.
09-036-18-35262018-10-09. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; ENGINE; STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR; VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS. Some vehicles may experience one or more of the following symptoms in connection with a malfunction related to the C-15 connector. The driver side power window does not operate. The door does not open when using the advanced keyless system. The warning lamp stays ON even after the ignition switch is turned OFF. DTC B10E7:17 (START STOP UNIT, IG1 Relay Circuit Malfunction) and DTCs related to communication errors may be stored in PCM memory. Engine no start due to battery discharge. The symptoms listed above may be caused by corrosion of the C-15 connector terminals due to water intrusion through the front door. In low ambient temperatures, the door harness hardens. If the door is fully opened, it may create a gap between the door and the door harness grommet, which may allow water to enter through the gap.
09-035-18-35092018-10-09. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience one or more electrical malfunctions after a vehicle body repair. The newly painted fender stay (2) may be causing a poor front harness (1) ground connection.
04-007-18-35002018-10-09. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some vehicles may experience the TCS/DSC indicator light and the TPMS warning light both ON with DTC C0051:62 stored in memory.DTC C0051:62 - The difference between the initial learned value of the steering angle (as calculated by each sensor) and the steering angle (as calculated by the steering angle sensor) while driving in a straight line, has exceeded its allowable tolerance (or threshold). NOTE: For vehicles equipped with the Smart City Brake System (SCBS), the master warning light also comes ON with the message "SCBS Inspection Required" in the display. The symptoms may occur when the following conditions are met: After starting the engine, the vehicle is driven backwards while the steering wheel is turned to the left or to the right or going forward over a bump while turning the steering wheel. The vehicle is then driven forward and begins accelerating while the steering wheel is still turned. To eliminate this concern, the DSC HU/CM software has been changed.
03-003-18-35192018-10-09. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN; ENGINE. Some vehicles may exhibit an oil leak from the companion flange area (A) of the transfer unit. This concern may be caused by companion flange oil seal wear. The oil seal has been improved to increase the wear resistance.
03-002-18-3505a2018-10-09. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT; POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:UNIVERSAL JOINT. Some vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the right front driveshaft at the transaxle when driving. This concern is likely to occur when driving at speeds between 37-50 mph (60-80 km/h) with the ATF at normal operating temperature. The noise is caused by stick/slip between the oil seal at the transaxle and the dust cover of the drive shaft. To correct this issue, the thickness of the dust cover has been increased.
02-016-18-34952018-10-09. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:REAR:SHOCK ABSORBER. Some vehicles may exhibit a rattle noise from the rear of the vehicle while driving. The noise may be caused by a rear shock absorber mounting bracket that is heavily corroded and broken. Due to insufficient durability of the bracket in certain environments, such as where road salt is used, corrosion and breakage can occur. To eliminate this concern, the material and the shape of the bracket (service parts) has been modified.
02-015-18-34992018-10-09. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:REAR:SPRINGS:COIL SPRINGS; STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit a knocking noise from the rear coil spring and/or the vehicle body sits lower in the rear. These symptoms may be caused by a broken rear coil spring at its lower side. This is caused by corrosion from dust between the rear coil spring and the spring sheet, resulting in a broken rear coil spring. To eliminate this concern, the shape of the rear coil spring has been modified.
01-018-18-35292018-10-09. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some vehicles may exhibit oil residue on the engine front cover from seepage around the joint portion (A) between the cylinder block and head. It becomes very noticable with dust adhesion. In some cases, the area of oil residue extends down to around the joint portion (B) between the engine front cover and the oil pan. This may be caused by oil escaping from a fine clearance created at the sealant applied to joint (A) between the cylinder block (B) and head (C) when the engine was pressurized during leak testing on the engine assembly line.
01-016-18-35222018-10-09. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. On some vehicles, a sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor may be noticed coming from the exhaust system. The odor is usually noticed after a cold start, fast idle, extended periods of idling and full throttle acceleration. Sulfur smell is not an indication of an engine concern and will not cause reduced driveability or durability of the engine or any of its emission components. The sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor is caused by high amounts of sulfur in the gasoline being used in the vehicle. Sulfur is normally eliminated during the refining process, but the EPA regulation of sulfur in gasoline differs from state to state. Vehicles using fuel containing high amounts of sulfur will most likely emit sulfur smell from the exhaust system. When high sulfur fuel is burned, there is a chemical reaction in the catalytic converter causing the sulfur to oxidize. As the vehicle is driven, the oxidizing reaction odor in the converter will decrease with mileage and age.
