Service bulletins for the 2019 Mazda CX-3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

08-001-20-3696a2020-07-02. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience the airbag warning light ON with DTC B00A0:09 stored in the SAS control module memory when the battery voltage is low. • DTC B00A0:09 (Occupant classification sensor internal signal output unstable). This concern is caused by the low voltage detection time of the occupant classification sensor (OCS) being too short during cranking, which causes detection of the DTC unnecessarily. The concern occurs more often in colder weather when greater electric current is consumed to start the vehicle. To eliminate this concern, the OCS has been modified to avoid unnecessary DTC detection. NOTE: • Even if the voltage is recovered after the engine is started, the airbag warning light stays ON during the drive cycle. • When the battery voltage becomes stable after the engine is started, the airbag system will operate normally.
SA-047-202020-05-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Be aware that some new AWD vehicles have been found with cracked rear differential cases, as shown below. NOTE: This may affect new vehicles just delivered to the dealer or new vehicles in dealer inventory.

The concern occurs more often in colder weather when greater electric current is consumed to start the vehicle. To eliminate this concern, the OCS has been modified to avoid unnecessary DTC detection. Some vehicles may have one of the following DTCs stored in memory: • C1001:92 - Forward sensing camera (FSC) poor field of view • B14F0:92 - General temporary failure in forward sensing camera (FSC) DTC C1001:92 or B14F0:92 set as a past record for low visibility of the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC). It does not mean there is an actual FSC defect. • In some cases the customer may have a concern with the Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) and/or High Beam Control system (HBC). • In other cases this DTC might be found without a related customer concern. NOTE: Instrument Cluster Multi-Information Display Warning Messages vary depending on vehicle year/model. See the Owner's Manual for details.
SA-036-202020-04-06. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. The owner’s manual contains procedures and precautions for the maintenance and cleaning of plastic parts, like the brand emblem. However, it is still important to remind customers about these precautions. Customers should never use inadequate, harsh or aggressive cleaning products on plastic parts. CAUTION: Be aware that when cleaning the brand emblem, never use cleaning products that are highly acidic/alkaline detergent, organic solvents or those with aggressive chemical products, otherwise, the brand emblem may become cracked and/or deformed (as shown in the example below). 00-001-20-36892020-04-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Mazda has developed factory recommended scheduled maintenance services that support all major vehicle systems. Mazda recommends dealers follow the scheduled maintenance tables as cited in the vehicle specific workshop manual or owner's manual. 09-012-20-36812020-02-29. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Some customers may complain about a high frequency noise (like a mosquito sound) while the active driving display is in the flip-up position. The noise may be coming from the capacitor inside the active driving display which vibrates according to the display control frequency. The circuit board resonates with it resulting in an audible noise. To eliminate this concern, the active driving display has been modified to use a higher frequency for the display control.

As a past malfunction, the customer will not notice it (no warning light illuminated), but the DTC may be found during a vehicle service. P2507 in this situation is only applicable on 2016 and later models. This is caused by the engine being started 3 or more times after a short duration of engine off (less than 15 seconds) with the room fused removed. NOTE: The odometer will display “F0-002” during transport mode (room fuse 15A removed). Transport mode is canceled when room fuse 15A is installed or the vehicle odometer is more than 12.4mi (20km).Vehicles in dealer inventory with this concern should be repaired using the following repair procedure.
09-003-20-36712020-01-23. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer’s responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometer and related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. • Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. • When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. • This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. • Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the “Speedometer Replacement Label”. Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. • In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda’s vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO’s services, it is possible that the odometer will be set between 10 to 31 miles over the odometer mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs. Please make sure that the customer is aware that there may be a slight variance to the odometer, in which case the customer may have to accept the slightly higher mileage. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after- warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense.
