TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: AVN5.0W DTC P17A000 DAIGNOSTIC PROCEDURE - This bulletin provides information regarding a potential illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) accompanied by DTC P17A000 on some 2022-2025MY Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) equipped with AVN5.0Wide head units listed below. This condition occurs when the Global Positioning System (GPS) module within the Audio Video Navigation (AVN) head unit, sends an inaccurate signal to the Hybrid Power Control Unit (HPCU), causing the DTC to set. This condition may cause the vehicle to release air pollutants which exceed Federal and California standards. As a result, the subject vehicles may exhibit an illumination of Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) with DTC(s) P040500, P064200 and/or P065200.

In rare cases, the front motor reduction gear assembly may exhibit noise after having the oil replaced.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN FRONT MOTOR REDUCTION GEAR OIL REPLACEMENT (SC345) - This bulletin provides information to replace the front motor reduction gear assembly gear oil on certain 2023-2024MY Niro EV (SG2 EV) vehicles produced from December 12, 2022 through February 7, 2024 and EV6 (CV) vehicles produced from December 14, 2022 through February 22, 2024. During the production of the subject vehicles, the amount of gear oil in the front motor and reduction gear assembly may have been filled below factory specification. If the gear oil level is lower than Kia’s factory specifications, the subject vehicles may eventually produce a grinding noise or whining noise from the front of the vehicle while driving.

Due to a software issue, the Battery Management System (BMS) may inadvertently overcharge the 12V Lithium battery. If the 12V Lithium battery becomes overcharged, the subject vehicles may experience a reduction in motive power accompanied by the ‘Check Hybrid System, Stop Safely’ warning message, Hybrid system warning lamp, Service warning lamp, Charging system warning lamp, and a rapid beeping sound for approximately ten (10) seconds. (Note: This Voluntary Service Campaign supersedes ELE318/SA553).

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: 6DCT MIL ON DTC (P073F73) LOGIC & LEARNING FUNCTION IMPROVEMENT - This bulletin provides information to upgrade the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) software logic on some 2024MY Niro P/HEV (SG2 P/HEV) produced from October 18, 2023 through November 18, 2023. The affected vehicles may exhibit a MIL 'ON' with DTC P073F73 and, in some cases, engage 2nd gear while accelerating from a stop instead of 1st gear.
TSB_ELE3322024-05-06. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: EWP COOLANT HOSE REPLACEMENT - This bulletin provides information to replace the Electric Water Pump (EWP) coolant hose on some 2023-2024MY Niro EV (SG2 EV) vehicles produced from July 11, 2022 through January 24, 2024, which may exhibit a coolant leak from under the bulkhead due to a loosened EWP coolant hose at the EWP connector. If the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, a "Refill coolant" warning message may appear in the instrument cluster, followed by reduced heater performance. The retainer clip on the EWP coolant hose on the vehicle is positioned horizontally on the hose which may come loose after time. The improved coolant hose has the retainer clip rotated 90 degrees to be positioned vertically.

This bulletin provides information to update the software on 5th Generation AVN wide on certain 2020-2024MY Kia vehicles (refer to model list on page 3) to remedy a 'non-responsive' or 'inoperative' radio (FM, AM, SXM, etc. ) concern. The affected AVN unit on the vehicles may not respond when pressing the 'RADIO' hard key/button on the AVN unit or when selecting the 'RADIO' icon on the AVN menu screen.

PITSTOP: AIR CONDITIONER AUTO-DRY WHILE VEHICLE IS OFF - This Pitstop provides information regarding the new feature Air Conditioner Auto-Dry on some 2022-2024MY EV6 (CV), 2024MY Sportage (NQ5a), and 2024MY Niro EV (SG2 EV) vehicles. Some Kia owners may state that their air condition fans continue to run after the vehicle has been shut off. The Air Conditioner Auto-Dry feature will automatically run the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition (HVAC) fan to dry the inside of the air conditioner system to help prevent mold growth. Kia owners may be unaware of the Air Conditioner Auto-Dry feature.

This condition may occur when the vehicle is exposed to high heat/hot weather environments.

VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN: VCU SOFTWARE LOGIC UPGRADE (SC273) - This bulletin has been revised to include additional information. This bulletin provides information to upgrade the software logic of the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) on certain 2022-2023MY EV6 (CV) vehicles produced from November 17, 2021 through May 30, 2023, and 2023-2024MY Niro EV (SG2 EV) vehicles produced from July 11, 2022 through June 30, 2023, in order to enhance the following two (2) functions: 1. Illumination of Brake lamp without depressing the brake pedal when the vehicle is quickly decelerating by way of regenerative braking in i-Pedal mode. 2. Shift operation gear selection into Park (P) automatically when the auxiliary battery's (12V) voltage is critically low and the vehicle is stopped.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: DATA COLLECTION: EXTRACT CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS DATA FROM ECU (DC24) - This bulletin provides information related to extracting "in use performance tracking" emissions data from the Engine Control Unit (ECU) of certain vehicles sold in California. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) requires the emissions data from vehicles with a minimum of 3,000 accumulated miles without reprogramming or resetting. To facilitate collection of this data at the dealer level, KDS screenshots will allow the capture of relevant parameters. Note that a “Web Based” KDS IUMPR Data Collection procedure is outlined.
