While charging using a 240-V AC (“Level 2”) charger, the subject vehicles may experience an interrupted charging session or a lower charging speed due to a degraded electrical connection from exposure to a damaged charging cable connector. Dealers are to update the ‘VCMS’ ECU with improved software to improve charging speeds and reduce interrupted charging sessions.

Kia has become aware that the EGR Valve Assembly in the subject vehicles may not have been manufactured to Kia’s specifications. This condition may cause the vehicle to release air pollutants which exceed Federal and California standards. As a result, the subject vehicles may exhibit an illumination of Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) with DTC(s) P040500, P064200 and/or P065200.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: DATA COLLECTION: EXTRACT CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS DATA FROM ECU (DC24) - This bulletin provides information related to extracting "in use performance tracking" emissions data from the Engine Control Unit (ECU) of certain vehicles sold in California. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) requires the emissions data from vehicles with a minimum of 3,000 accumulated miles without reprogramming or resetting. To facilitate collection of this data at the dealer level, KDS screenshots will allow the capture of relevant parameters. Note that a “Web Based” KDS IUMPR Data Collection procedure is outlined.
