SC203_TSB2021-11-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. VOLUNTARY EMISSIONS SERVICE CAMPAIGN: ECM UPDATE FOR OBD LOGIC IMPROVEMENT (SC203) - This bulletin provides the procedure to improve the logic of the Engine Control Module (ECM) on some 2017-2018MY Forte (YDm) vehicles equipped with the NU 2.0L MPI engine, produced from May 27, 2016 through June 27, 2018. While this issue has no effect on the drivability of the vehicle, nor does it release any air pollutants, the vehicle may fail a SMOG check and/or may not illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) for certain fuel system failures. In order to improve On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) logic, apply the improved software logic to the Engine system using the KDS ECU Upgrade function as described in this bulletin.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: 7-SPEED DCT JUDDER INSPECTION AND DUAL CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT - This bulletin provides the procedure to replace Dual Clutch Assembly and upgrade the TCU on some 2016-2020MY Kia vehicles listed on the table below, equipped with the 7 Speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), which might exhibit clutch judder when accelerating from a stop. If the vehicle body vibrates without the steering wheel shuddering when performing creep driving test (driving the vehicle up to 3mph), the vehicle is exhibiting clutch judder. The creep test can be conducted by driving at a speed slower than 5 mph after releasing the brake.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: PARTIAL REPAIR OF C-MDPS MOTOR, ECU AND/OR STEERING COLUMN HOUSING - This bulletin has been revised to include additional information.This bulletin provides information regarding the partial repair of the Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) Motor, Electronic Control Unit (ECU) or Steering Column Housing on some 2010MY~ Kia models listed on page 5 equipped with a Column Motor Driven Power Steering (C-MDPS) unit. Follow the MDPS Flowchart (page 2) along with the MDPS DTC Table (page 3) procedure outlined in this bulletin before replacing the C-MDPS Motor, ECU or Steering Column Housing.

TSB: STEERING WHEEL MOUNTED AUDIO CONTROL MALFUNCTION - This bulletin provides the procedure to inspect and, if necessary, replace the clock spring assembly on some 2014-2018MY Forte (YD/YDm) vehicles, produced from February 20, 2013 through June 30, 2018, which may experience intermittent malfunctioning steering wheel audio controls due to a clock spring connector pin deformation, with no related DTCs for this concern. Note: this does not impair the clock spring airbag function. Follow the procedure in this bulletin to inspect the clock spring female connector and, if necessary, replace the clock spring assembly.

PITSTOP: CYLINDER HEAD STEEL BALL INSPECTION AND INSTALLATION - This Pitstop provides information regarding the inspection and installation of the steel sealing ball on: * 3.3L & 3.8L Lambda engines for 2007-2008MY Sorento (BL), * 2.0L Nu engines for 2010-2019MY Soul (AM, PS), and * 1.8L & 2.0L Nu engines for 2010-2018MY Forte (TD, YD/YDm), 2019MY~ Forte (BDm). When replacing the cylinder heads on these engines, inspect the lubrication ports for installation of the steel sealing balls. Current replacement cylinder heads may not be equipped with the required steel balls. Identify and locate the nine (9) lubricant passages on 3.3L and 3.8L engines and three (3) on 1.8L and 2.0L engines and verify a steel ball is installed in each.

TSB - SERVICE ACTION: ELECTRIC THERMOSTAT REPLACEMENT (SA308) - This bulletin provides the procedure to replace the electric thermostat on 2017MY Forte (YDm) 2.0L MPI vehicles, produced from May 23, 2016 through March 15, 2017, which may exhibit a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) ON with DTC P0128.

PITSTOP: QUICK START GUIDE (QSG) DISCOLORATION - Some 2017-2018MY Forte (YDm) vehicles may experience some fading/discoloring (yellowing) of the Quick Start Guide (QSG) installed prior to delivery to your dealer. In the event you encounter this issue, a replacement QSG can be ordered and shipped to your dealer in maximum quantities of five (5) per order, at no charge. Overnight shipping is available at an additional charge to the dealer. When placing your order, reference the part number (A) listed on the back of QSG.
PS4982017-08-02. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; VISIBILITY. PITSTOP: ANTI-CONDENSATION LOGIC ? NORMAL OPERATION, DISABLING, AND ENABLING - Some Kia vehicles starting with 2016MY and all Kia vehicles, after and including 2017MY, incorporate an anti-condensation logic to prevent the interior windows from becoming excessively fogged. The HVAC control head in these vehicles monitors ambient temperature to determine which settings will best prevent the windows from fogging. If the system detects lower ambient temperature (about 60°F or below), the anti-condensation logic may automatically set the air intake mode to FRESH, depending on the other HVAC settings. The anti-condensation logic is also designed to ensure that air intake mode is set to FRESH, as long as all conditions are met. If the user changes the air intake to RECIRCULATION, the anti-condensation logic will take control again after 5 minutes, and change the air intake mode back to FRESH. If this results in an undesired operation, the logic may be enabled or disabled by following the procedure below.
PS4932017-08-02. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. TSB: DEFOGGING LOGIC ? NORMAL OPERATION, DISABLING, AND ENABLING - Starting with 2010MY, all Kia vehicles, except Rio (JB), incorporate a defogging logic to prevent the interior windows from becoming excessively fogged. Depending on the specific model, the HVAC control head monitors ambient temperature and/or cabin humidity to determine which settings will best prevent the windows from fogging. If the system detects lower ambient temperature or higher cabin humidity, the defogging logic may automatically switch ON the A/C, and/or set the air intake mode to Fresh Air. If the user changes these settings, the defogging logic will take control again after 3 to 5 minutes, depending on the procedure in this publication.

TSB: FRONT LICENSE PLATE BRACKET INSTALLATION - This bulletin provides information on front license plate bracket installation on some 2017MY Forte (YD, YDm) 5-Door vehicles which may not have corresponding dimples for the insertion of the front license plate bracket guide pins.

TSB: SERVICE ACTION: SOFTWARE UPGRADE FOR AUDIO POWER ON IMPROVEMENT (SA264) - This bulletin provides the procedure to upgrade the Base Audio Gen 3.0 Type A software on some 2017 Forte (YDm) vehicles, produced from May 16, 2016 to November 24, 2016, which may experience an intermittent power-on concern after vehicle ignition is switched on and an error message: ?Park the vehicle first to operate Bluetooth setting? while the gear shifter is in ?Park? position. Follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin to correct the concern.
PS472R12017-08-02. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. PITSTOP: HVAC VENTILATION LOGIC OPERATION - Starting with 14MY Soul (PS) (with the exception of PSEV) and complete new models such as K900 (KH), Sedona (YP), Sorento (UMa), Optima (JFa), Sportage (QL), and 17MY Forte (YD, YDm), etc., equipped with a sunroof, a ventilation logic has been applied in order to prevent exhaust gases flowing into the vehicle due to the pressure difference (inside vs outside) that is generated when driving with the sunroof open. This logic allows the system to automatically switch from RECIRCULATION to FRESH mode when the sunroof is open.

PITSTOP: HVAC RECEIVER/DRYER - DESICCANT REPLACEMENT - IN THE EVENT OF A HVAC SYSTEM CONCERN IN WHICH METAL PARTICLES OR SHARDS HAVE CONTAMINATED THE SYSTEM, THE DESICCANT OR THE ENTIRE A/C RECEIVER/DRYER ASSEMBLY MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT MAY BE IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE ALL METAL CONTAMINANTS FROM THE RECEIVER/DRYER DURING THE A/C FLUSHING PROCEDURE. REFER TO THE INCLUDED TABLE FOR DETAILED INFORMATION ON COMPONENT REPLACEMENT BY MODEL. IF YOU SUSPECT A PLUGGED EXPANSION VALVE, THE INLET SCREENS CAN BE CLEANED. IF THE VALVE IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH AN INLET SCREEN AND IS RESTRICTED, THE EXPANSION VALVE MAY ALSO NEED TO BE REPLACED.
