PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN: DEALER PARTS AND SERVICE MANAGER MEMO - This document is the announcement to the dealer Parts and Service Managers that Kia is conducting a Product Improvement Campaign to install steel reinforcement plates on the second-row seat outer rails in certain 2022-2024 MY Kia Carnival vehicles equipped with sliding and removable second-row seats (excluding SX-Prestige equipped with the second-row lounge seats). This is an update following a notice that was issued to Kia dealers in August 2023. Kia is currently experiencing an unexpected parts supply issue which is expected to continue until the first week of October 2023. Since the remedy is not going to be available during this period, Kia is requesting that customers wait until after the first week of October before contacting an authorized Kia dealer to schedule a service appointment for this Product Improvement Campaign to be performed.

The affected AVN unit on the vehicles may not respond when pressing the 'RADIO' hard key/button on the AVN unit or when selecting the 'RADIO' icon on the AVN menu screen. Follow the procedure outlined in this publication to update the software on 5th Generation AVN wide units using the applicable USB Flash Drive A or B for the applicable vehicle.

The throttle body plate may freeze after a cold soak in very cold temperatures, possibly causing the vehicle to go into 'limp-home' mode. Once the vehicle is warmed up, the throttle body performs normally.

The "Check Rear Seats" message will display on the cluster when driver opens the front door, if during vehicle operation the rear doors (one or both) were opened and closed.

Follow the procedure outlined in this publication to apply the improved logic to the 'ECM' system using the KDS ECU Upgrade function as described in this bulletin.
PS613_R12022-04-01. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. PITSTOP: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACEMENT AND MILEAGE SETTING WITH KDS - This bulletin has been revised to include additional information. This pitstop provides the KDS service procedure for mileage setting on the models listed below with newly replaced instrument clusters. Certain models allow for mileage setting with the KDS, which prevents the need to send out the instrument cluster to a 3rd party for mileage adjustment (refer to PS264). After a new cluster is installed, cluster (variant) coding may also need to be conducted using the KDS. Make sure the KDS software is also updated to the latest version. Mileage setting should be performed by using the KDS only, as described in this bulletin.
