Service bulletins for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

A small number of customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation the technicianmay find one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):P06EF - Engine Restart Performance. P0456 - EVAP System Small Leak.If DTC P0456 is present use the wiTECH Small Leak Verification test (SLVT)to determine if a leak is present in the system. Customers may experience one or more of the following:Excessive blower fan noise when the A/C is on MAX output. Intermittentrough idle or idle surging, when coming to a stop(Automatic transmission equipped vehicles only). Random Electronic Stability Control (ESC) lamp illuminates in the InstrumentPanel Cluster (IPC). Driving at vehicle speeds while in first gear and shifting into neutral, amessage "Shift to 1st gear not allowed" message appears in the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) when conditions are not met(Manual transmission equipped vehicles only). 3 km (2 mph) difference between cruise set speed versus actual displayspeed. During cold vehicle operation and the use of cruise control on vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, the engine RPMs may dropbelow idle speed while cruise control is engaged, this may occur if the customer presses the accelerator pedal to achieve a vehicle speedgreater than the cruise control speed and then releasing it. Radio or IPC may reboot (flash off/flash on) during an Engine Stop Start(ESS) shutdown in cold conditions with a battery temperature below -12°C (10°F). |

Customer?s complaint may include a MIL-on with one or more of the following DTCs (Active, Pending, or Stored) in the PCM: P0133, P0137, P0171, P0300, P2096. The root cause could be due to oil leaking from Bank 1 valve cover seal on to the 1/2 (Bank 1 downstream) O2 sensor. This can adversely affect the 1/2 O2 sensor signal reading and lead to listed DTCs. Before performing normal diagnostic routines for the above codes, check for the condition listed above. |

| 9003704 | 2020-08-24. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN. Transmission Oil Pan, Heater (TMU), Tube or O-ring Applies to vehicles equipped with 8 speed transmissions only; if you have a leak that appears to be at the pan the use of proper leak detection is recommended. The fluid in the 8 speeds can be detected with a black light and there are aftermarket spray on leak detection materials to help ensure that the leak is properly diagnosed and not from another location such as cooler lines, heater tubes, or case porosity. Please note that the transmission pan gasket is available for many of the 8 speed applications FCA offers. Please review the available quick connect and transfer tube parts, as replacement of the TMU may not be required. If a TOC line connection is found to be the source, the quick connect may need replacement. If the leak source is coming from the connection of the TMU to the transmission, the transfer tube may need replacement. When parts are returned to the QEC the retaining clips (snap ring) for the quick disconnect fittings are missing. (This leaves a question as to whether the clips were missing from the assembly plant, or the technician removed them in order to make line removal easier.) Please return the clips with the transmission heater and note if they were not there to begin with. For any questions regarding transmission heater, contact FCA Redacted Content. If no response in 15 minutes, proceed with repair. |
