Service bulletins for the 2016 Hyundai Sonata
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 5NP-F7S4R-01 | 2017-01-24. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY. CERTAIN 2015 AND 2016 MODEL YEAR HYUNDAI SONATAS AND 2016 SONATA HYBRIDS COME EQUIPPED WITH AN OPTIONAL PANORAMIC SUNROOF. THE SUNROOF ASSEMBLY INCORPORATES A WIND DEFLECTOR TO HELP REDUCE WIND NOISE IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WHEN THE SUNROOF IS OPEN. IF THE WIND DEFLECTOR BECOMES PARTIALLY DETACHED FROM ITS MOUNTING BRACKET WHILE THE SUNROOF IS OPEN, THE DEFLECTOR CAN INTERFERE WITH THE CLOSING OF THE MOVEABLE SUNROOF PANEL. IN SOME CASES THIS INTERFERENCE CAN RESULT IN THE SUNROOF PANEL DETACHING FROM ITS MOUNTING TABS. IF THE SUNROOF PANEL DETACHES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, THE PANEL COULD BECOME AN OBSTACLE TO OTHER DRIVERS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. |
The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
