Service bulletins for the 2016 Hyundai Sonata
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 19-FL-001H | 2019-03-18. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM:INJECTORS; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. In a gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine, highly pressurized gasoline is injected via a common rail fuel line and injectors that deliver fuel directly into the combustion chamber of each cylinder. In comparison, in a conventional multi-point fuel injection (MPI) engine, relatively low pressure gasoline is injected into the intake port of each cylinder. Due to high fuel pressures in a GDI system, servicing the GDI system requires special attention and handling procedures. This bulletin provides special service information and specification for the GDI fuel system components. |

| 5NPH9L4R02 | 2017-09-22. Service bulletin. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM; ENGINE. Hyundai has launched a service campaign to inspect and if needed, repair the evaporative emissions canister and bracket on certain model year 2011? 2015 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and 2012 ? 2016 Veloster vehicles. This campaign affects such vehicles registered in and operated in Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia. Reason for this Service Campaign During winter months, large quantities of salt are used to de-ice roads in the states noted above. Road salt and water can corrode the bracket holding the canister in place; as well as the seal within the canister. This can result in the need to replace these components and if necessary, the canister itself. |
The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
