Service bulletins for the 2021 Ford Mustang

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

148 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

SSM 514192023-04-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2017-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmission may exhibit a whine noise at idle and/or while driving. This may be identified as coming from the bellhousing and the front of the transmission fluid pan. The whine noise may become louder when the transmission is at operating temperature and may increase with engine revolutions per minute (RPM) in the park (P) position. A small amount of whine noise is considered to be characteristic of the 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmissions due to the offset gear drivetrain in the front support and has no effect on durability.
TSB 23-20202023-01-31. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2021-2022 Mustang Mach-E vehicles built on or before 28-May-2022 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and/or powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0563, P0ADA, P0ADE, P0AA1, P0AA4, P0AA5, P0AA2, P0D10, P0D0F, and/or P0C78 stored in battery energy control module (BECM). It may also have a low/discharged 12V battery and/or display a Stop Safely Now message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). This may be due to the high voltage battery junction box (HVBJB). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the HVBJB and reprogram the BECM.
SSM 512362023-01-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2018-2022 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine and a 10R80 transmission may exhibit a buck/jerk sensation that may be perceived as an engine misfire during throttle tip-in between 35-45 mph (56-72 km/h) and with the transmission in 8th, 9th, or 10th gear. This buck/jerk sensation is a characteristic of the vehicle and can be compared to a like vehicle that is equipped with a similar powertrain (engine, transmission, and rear end gear ratio) driven in the same manner. A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will not set because of this condition and no repair attempts should be made. If a misfire DTC is present, the DTC should be diagnosed first following the correct diagnostic procedure outlined in the Workshop Manual, Section 303-07B.
SSM 512322023-01-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. Some 2018-2022 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine and a 10R80 transmission may exhibit a buck/jerk sensation that may be perceived as an engine misfire during throttle tip-in between 35-45 MPH (56-72 KPH) and with the transmission in 8th, 9th, or 10th gear. This buck/jerk sensation can be compared to a like vehicle that is equipped with a similar powertrain (engine, transmission, and rear end gear ratio) and driven in the same manner. A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will not set because of this condition. If a misfire DTC is present, the DTC should be diagnosed first following the correct diagnostic procedure outlined in the Workshop Manual, Section 303-07B.
