Service bulletins for the 2017 Ford F-750

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 521882024-01-24. Service bulletin. STEERING. 2024 F-Super Duty vehicles are equipped with XL-22 (WSS-M2C184-A1) high temperature power steering fluid that looks like clear hydraulic fluid. This fluid is an improvement in high temperature and thermal oxidative stability compared to Mercon LV. This power steering fluid is also compatible and highly recommended to use when filling or topping off power steering systems of all 2012-2023 F-Super Duty vehicles originally equipped with Mercon LV.
SSM 471032018-05-14. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some 2017-2018 Continental/F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a DTC B13BD in the steering effort control module (SECM). This DTC sets when the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) self test is run and is a result of a software issue between the SECM and the IDS. After the IDS self test is run DTC B13BD sets and the heated steering wheel is disabled. To eliminate the DTC and return the heated steering wheel functionality, perform the IDS SASM module reset routine. The IDS reset routine is available under Toolbox > Chassis > Steering > Adaptive Front Steering > SASM Module Reset. For claiming, use causal part 3600 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the service labor time standards (SLTS) manual.
SSM 467262017-08-25. Service bulletin. TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS; TIRES; STEERING. During PDI, 2017 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with tire pressure monitor system (TPMS) will exhibit an illuminated low tire pressure warning light and low tire pressure readout in the message center (if equipped) from the factory. Using a calibrated digital tire pressure gauge, adjust the tire pressure to specification and do not refer to the pressure displayed in the message center. During the PDI, the vehicle must be driven over 20 mph (32 kph) for at least 2 minutes to update the pressure displayed and turn off the tire pressure warning. It is not necessary to train or activate sensors with the service tool during PDI. If the TPMS low tire pressure warning is still present or message center pressure readout is inaccurate after completing the PDI road test, refer to the online Workshop Manual, Section 204-04B for normal diagnostics.
SSM 460222017-02-23. Service bulletin. STEERING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. WHEN HOOKING UP THE VEHICLE COMMUNICATION MODULE (VCM) AND INTEGRATED DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM (IDS) TO THE DLC LOCATED ON THE DRIVER SIDE UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN AT THE GWM, MAKE SURE THAT THE IGNITION IS OFF BEFORE CONNECTING TO IDS. IF THE IGNITION IS ON OR THE ENGINE IS RUNNING DURING THE HOOK UP, IT CAN RESULT IN VARIOUS WARNING LIGHTS BEING ILLUMINATED WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS), NO START OR NO CRANK CONDITIONS OR THE CLUSTER INOPERATIVE. FOR LINCOLN VEHICLES, THIS INFORMATION IS NOW LISTED IN THE TECHNICAL INSPECTION AND POST ROAD TEST SECTIONS OF EPDI ON THE PTS WEBSITE. IF A VEHICLE DISPLAYS THESE ISSUES, DISCONNECT THE EQUIPMENT FROM THE DLC AND REINSTALL WITH THE IGNITION OFF. CLEAR ANY DTCS PRESENT AND RETEST.
