SSM 490652020-09-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Some 2011-2020 F-Super Duty, 2015-2019 Transit, 2016-2021 F-650/F-750 and 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L, 3.2L or 3.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P207F, P20EE, P229F, P2201 and/or P24AE. This may be a result of using aftermarket cleaning liquids or tools for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler or intake. Ford does not recommend the cleaning of diesel intakes or EGR coolers using any aftermarket tool that injects a cleaning foam or liquid substance into the EGR cooler or intake. Using these types of fluids can result in sodium poisoning of the NOx and particulate matter (PM) sensors resulting in degraded operation and permanent damage to the after treatment system. Use of these cleaning tools may void the emissions warranty of the hot end after treatment exhaust system and the attached emissions sensors.
SSM 478362019-04-08. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL. Some 2011-2019 F-Super Duty 6.7L diesel equipped vehicles may exhibit a ticking/tapping noise traced to the reductant injector.
SSM 478362019-04-01. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Some 2011-2019 F-Super Duty 6.7L diesel equipped vehicles may exhibit a ticking/tapping noise traced to the reductant injector.
SSM 477122019-03-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty and 2016-2019 F650-750 with 6.7L diesel engines, 2015-2019 Transit with 3.2L diesel engines and 2018-2019 F-150 with 3.0L diesel engines may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C in the powertrain control module (PCM). Review of repair data supports that P206C is often the result of incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Per Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Pinpoint Test (PPT) RJ, a DEF concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition.
TSB 18-22252019-03-04. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Some 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine built on or before 09-Jul-2018 may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTCs P24AE, P24AF, P24B1, P24B3, P24C6, P24C7, and/or P24DA in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a concern with the diesel particulate matter sensor. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
TSB 19-20062019-03-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Some 2016-2018 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine built on or before 23-Apr-2018 may exhibit an inaccurate DEF level gauge with no DEF level related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the powertrain control module (PCM). Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SSM 474022018-09-10. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; EQUIPMENT. When performing diagnostics for DTCs P2201, P2452, P2459, P246C and/or P2463, a manual regeneration and diesel particulate filter (DPF) parameter reset using the appropriate scan tool may need to be performed. To perform the manual regeneration, go to the Toolbox tab > Powertrain > Service Functions > Diesel Particulate Regeneration System > DPF Manual Regeneration. The scan tool may indicate that a regeneration of the DPF is not recommended at this time, selecting YES on this screen will allow the regeneration process to complete. To perform the DPF parameter reset, go to the Toolbox tab > Powertrain > Service Functions > Diesel Particulate Regeneration System > DPF Parameter Reset.
SSM 473462018-07-23. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. Some 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine built on or before 6-Dec-2017 may exhibit an exhaust odor in the vehicle cabin. This may be due to a leak at the turbocharger inlet clamps. Performing a pressurized smoke test on the exhaust system will aid in locating the source of a leak. While performing the smoke test, the use of a small mirror can help identify leaks underneath the clamps. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual Pinpoint Test KA, Step KA3. Note that the turbo charger is not a contributing factor in the exhaust leak issue.
TSB18-21272018-05-21. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Some 2016-2017 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P012F, P0170, P218F, and/or a lack of performance at low speeds when heavily loaded. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SSM 469212018-01-29. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; POWER TRAIN. Some 2017 F-Super Duty vehicles with 6.7L diesel engines may exhibit a fuel knock type noise at idle with various cylinder contribution/balance DTCs and/or Fuel Injector Offset Learn DTCs. To resolve this issue please use the following procedure: 1) Make sure ECT1 and EOT are above 176Å?F (80Å?C). 2) Using the IDS or FJDS, run the Manual Injector Balance Test/Enhanced Power Balance Test under Toolbox, Powertrain, Power Balance. If the noise is gone after running the Enhanced Power Balance test, then clear the High Pressure Side Minimum Fuel Mass Adaptation tables for all cylinders, and the Crankshaft Position Sensor under Toolbox, Powertrain, Service Functions, Reset, Clear Specified Function. Do not attempt any repairs at this time. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates.
