| SSM 50115 | 2021-09-28. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some 2021 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit harsh or delayed engagement/shift concerns. Most concerns may be addressed with the PCM/TCM Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In Routine. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01, DTC Chart and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. This routine cycles the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination that may be sticking the valves and must be performed along with an adaptive learning drive cycle before attempting internal service. Although this routine was originally developed for low mileage vehicles, it has proven effective for resolving many shift and engagement symptoms across the life of the vehicle. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards Manual. |
| SSM 50049 | 2021-09-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:DOGS/SYNCHROS. Some 2017-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicle customers may receive a message in their FordPass or Lincoln Way App stating Feature Unavailable. Since this is a fleet vehicle, it cannot access the SYNC Connect or FordPass Connect feature or Lincoln Connect or Embedded Modem Do not replace the TCU or perform any repair to resolve this condition. Refer the owner of the vehicle to Ford Pass Guides or Lincoln Way Concierge Teams to assist in removing the fleet telematics subscription. |
| SSM 50032 | 2021-09-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2021 F-250 vehicles equipped with a 6R100 transmission, four-wheel drive (4WD), 3.73 rear axle ratio, and built on or after 01-Feb-2021 may exhibit a metallic grinding noise from the rear of the vehicle under light acceleration between 23-33 mph (37-53 Km/h). The noise is most prevalent in 3rd and 4th gear when the vehicle is warm. This may be due to normal driveline noise transmitting through the driveshaft. To correct the condition, replace the rear axle drive pinion flange using service part number HC3Z-4851-A. Also, replace the rear pinion seal. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 205-02. For claiming, use causal part 4851 and applicable labor operations in Section 04 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 49989 | 2021-08-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2017-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with four-wheel drive (4WD) may exhibit steering bind or front driveline noise because the hublocks do not automatically disengage immediately following a shift from 4WD to two-wheel drive (2WD). This may be due to driveline tension between the axle and hub keeping them engaged. To correct the condition, shift the vehicle from DRIVE to REVERSE to release the driveline tension. This is a normal operating characteristic of the vehicle and replacement of the hublocks is not recommended. If the concern remains after shifting into REVERSE and allowing the vehicle to move approximately 5 feet (1.5 meters), remove and inspect the hublocks for any damage. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 308-07A. Repair as necessary. |
| 21B03-S4 | 2021-07-01. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. In all of the affected vehicles, a distressed No. 1 planetary needle bearing inside the ring gear assembly will generate contamination that may produce rough shifts. A wrench light is likely to come on, and the transmission may go into safe mode and only operate in seventh gear. As damage progresses, the transmission may only be capable of limited vehicle speed or may not engage in forward or reverse. |
| SSM 49822 | 2021-06-01. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2020-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with an 10R140 automatic transmission may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator Lamp (MIL) and/or powertrain malfunction indicator (wrench) lamp with various transmission fluid temperature (TFT) and/or transmission range (TR) sensor diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P2805, P0706, P0707, P0708, P0709, P2801, P2802, P2803, P2804, P0710, P0711, P0712, P0713 and/or P1711 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or the transmission control module (TCM). If any of these DTCs are present, disconnect the transmission vehicle harness connector C168A, and if equipped, the TCM connector C1750 to inspect for damaged or pushed out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing/damaged seals. If damage is found, repair as necessary. If no issues are present, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01 for normal diagnostics. |
| TSB 21-2100 | 2021-05-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2020-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 transmission may exhibit a ticking or scraping noise coming from the bellhousing. The noise may or may not go away while in PARK and/or NEUTRAL. This may be due to the torque converter studs contacting the flexplate inspection cover and/or internal torque converter damper spring contact. To correct the condition, inspect and adjust the flexplate inspection cover (gas engine only) and/or replace the torque converter (gas or diesel engine). |
| TSB 21-2056 | 2021-04-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. | SSM 49558 | 2021-03-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2021 F-Super Duty vehicles, with 5,000 miles (8,000 km) or less may exhibit harsh or delayed engagement/shift concerns with or without transmission diagnostic trouble codes(DTC) in the powertrain control module (PCM) or the transmission control module (TCM). Most concerns at low mileage may be addressed with the accelerated main control break-in routine. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 307-01 Diagnosis and Testing, DTC Chart and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. This routine cycles the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination that may be sticking the valves and must be performed along with an adaptive learning drive cycle before attempting internal service. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards Manual. |
| SSM 49483 | 2021-02-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2017-2021 F-Super Duty and 2016-2021 F650-750 with 6.7L diesel engines, 2015-2019 Transit with 3.2L diesel engines and 2018-2021 F-150 with 3.0L diesel engines may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C in the powertrain control module (PCM). Review of repair data supports that P206C is often the result of incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Per Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Pinpoint Test (PPT) RJ, a DEF concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition. |
| SSM 49446 | 2021-02-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.2L or 7.3L engine, F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.3L or 5.0L engine, and Explorer/Police Interceptor Utility vehicles equipped with a 3.3L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0106 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) while in transport mode, especially in higher altitudes. To correct the condition, clear the DTCs and deactivate transport mode. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-10 > General Procedures. Before starting the engine in the procedure, cycle the ignition to OFF, cycle the ignition to ON, wait ten seconds, cycle the ignition to OFF, wait ten seconds, then start the engine. If the condition remains, refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for diagnostics. |
