SSM 521882024-01-24. Service bulletin. STEERING. 2024 F-Super Duty vehicles are equipped with XL-22 (WSS-M2C184-A1) high temperature power steering fluid that looks like clear hydraulic fluid. This fluid is an improvement in high temperature and thermal oxidative stability compared to Mercon LV. This power steering fluid is also compatible and highly recommended to use when filling or topping off power steering systems of all 2012-2023 F-Super Duty vehicles originally equipped with Mercon LV.
SSM 500282021-09-04. Service bulletin. STEERING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2020-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with an electronic steering actuator and built on or after 12-Apri-2021 may exhibit various steering fault messages with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C1B00 stored in the power steering control module (PSCM). To correct the condition, reprogram the PSCM using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 3G568 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
SSM 497402021-05-03. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some 2017-2021 F-Super Duty four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles may have a customer concern of intermittently exhibiting excessive steering oscillation. To correct the condition, replace the steering damper with KC3Z-3E651-B and return the vehicle to the customer. For claiming, use causal part 3E651 and applicable labor operations in Section 03 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If the concern returns, refer to the updated procedures, with videos, in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 211-03 Steering Linkage > Diagnosis and Testing > Symptom Chart.
SSM 496282021-03-03. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some 2017-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles may intermittently exhibit excessive steering oscillation. A new instructional video has been published in the Workshop Manual (WSM) to provide specific measurement instructions on the appropriate tools and methods to determine which steering linkage joints are exceeding lash specifications and which are operating as designed. The left side tie rod end and sector shaft arm drag link joints should not be replaced without obtaining the proper lash measurements. Refer to WSM, Section 211-03 Steering Linkage > Diagnosis and Testing > Symptom Chart.
