TSB 22-20152022-02-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 automatic transmission may exhibit a harsh/delayed engagement and/or harsh/delayed shift. It is possible the vehicle may also have an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0729, P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0735, P0736, P076F, P07D9, P07F7, P2700, P2701, P2702, P2703, P2704 and/or P2705 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM). This may be due to sticking valves in the main control valve body. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to submit a report a vehicle concern with the collected transmission early alert monitor keep-alive memory (TEAM KAM) data file, then perform the transmission accelerated main control break-in routine for the appropriate clutches and/or overhaul main control valve body.
TSB 22-20042022-02-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a condition where the engine will not turn off and/or have various electrical symptoms including a dead battery, horn stays on and no crank/no start. The vehicle may also have an illuminated anti-lock braking system (ABS) Indicator with DTCs C0020 and U3003 in the ABS module. This may be a result of water/moisture intrusion into the battery junction box (BJB). The BJB is located under the hood of the vehicle. This water/moisture intrusion may be related to the BJB cover not installed completely or broken cover tabs/locking fingers allowing water/moisture into the BJB. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to inspect for water/moisture intrusion into the BJB and replace the BJB if water/moisture intrusion is found.
SSM 503652021-12-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:ANTI-THEFT:IMMOBILIZER/PROXIMITY:KEY/SENDER; STRUCTURE:BODY:TAILGATE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:ANTI-THEFT:IMMOBILIZER/PROXIMITY:SENSOR. Some 2022 F-Super Duty vehicles built on or after 20-Dec-2021 and equipped with remote tailgate release may exhibit a perceived inoperative tailgate latch release function. This may be due to a design change to the tailgate release strategy. When using the power tailgate release switch in the instrument panel, release switch on the tailgate, or the remote keyless entry (RKE) fob, the switch must be pressed twice within 3 seconds with the transmission in Park for the tailgate to release. If the remote tailgate release is still inoperative, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-14 for normal diagnostics.
SSM 503642021-12-26. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2021-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit an illuminated anti-lock brake system (ABS) warning lamp due to various diagnostic trouble codes or faults. If the ABS module does not respond to the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool during normal diagnostics, make sure all related connectors are fully seated. If no connector concerns are found, remove the FDRS scan tool from the vehicle and disconnect the vehicle battery cables for 10 minutes. Reconnect the battery cables and attempt to re-establish communication with the ABS module using the FDRS scan tool.
SSM 503422021-12-26. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may experience a lack of power due to snow packing of the engine air cleaner when operating in extremely snowy conditions. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P1548 may be present in the powertrain control module (PCM). A heavy snow environment pre-filter service kit (service part LC3Z-9K635-AA) is now available for use but is not a warrantable item. It is recommended that the service kit be removed at temperatures greater than 50°F (10°C) and reinstall in subsequent winter seasons in order to maintain optimal vehicle performance.
SSM 503232021-12-26. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2017-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2022 F-650/F-750 with 6.7L diesel engines, 2015-2019 Transit with 3.2L diesel engines and 2018-2021 F-150 with 3.0L diesel engines may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C in the powertrain control module (PCM). Review of repair data supports that P206C is often the result of incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Per Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Pinpoint Test (PPT) RJ, a DEF concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition.
SSM 503062021-12-07. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2018-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator; 2019-2021 Ranger; 2020-2021 Escape, Corsair, Explorer, Transit; 2021 Bronco, Bronco Sport, Edge, Nautilus, F-150, Mustang; 2019-2022 Transit Connect; 2020-2022 Aviator, F-Super Duty; and 2022 Maverick vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0496, P0456, P0455, P04F0, and/or P0451. Ford has tested returned EVAP canister purge valves and found them to be fully functional. Prior to replacing the canister purge valve or other EVAP components, perform the following tests using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) Scan Tool: Full System EVAP Leak Test - FDRS Location: TOOLBOX > PCM > PCM - Evap Emissions System Test and the EVAP Purge Valve Leak Test - FDRS Location: TOOLBOX > PCM > Evap Emission System Toolbox > CPV Check.
SSM 502602021-12-07. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER; POWER TRAIN; POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:LUBRICANT. Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 automatic transmission may exhibit a delayed engagement into drive and/or reverse on initial start-up. The condition may occur at times after sitting over night or for a couple of days. This may be due to the transmission fluid draining back from the torque converter. This is a normal characteristic of the 10R140 transmission and has no effect on durability, do not attempt to repair. Advise the customer to allow more time after first engine start-up and before shifting into gear allowing time for the torque converter to refill.
SSM 502592021-12-07. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; POWER TRAIN. 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 automatic transmission at times may exhibit a normal skip shift upshifting and downshifting strategy. Typical examples are 1-3 or 3-5 upshift or a 6-4 coasting downshift. This is a normal characteristic and no repairs should be attempted for this condition. For more detailed information about the 10R140 skip gear shift strategy refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01 > Diagnosis and Testing.
TSB 21-23802021-11-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and built on or before 05-Oct-2021 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P054E, P054F, P02ED, P2A00 And/Or P2A01 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the software in the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM.
SSM 501552021-09-28. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Some 2021-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.2L or 7.3L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0106 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after key-off transportation of the vehicle to higher altitudes. To correct the condition, clear the DTCs, cycle the ignition to OFF, cycle the ignition to ON, wait ten seconds, cycle the ignition to OFF, wait ten seconds, then start the engine. If the condition remains, refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for diagnostics.
SSM 501152021-09-28. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some 2021 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit harsh or delayed engagement/shift concerns. Most concerns may be addressed with the PCM/TCM Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In Routine. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01, DTC Chart and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. This routine cycles the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination that may be sticking the valves and must be performed along with an adaptive learning drive cycle before attempting internal service. Although this routine was originally developed for low mileage vehicles, it has proven effective for resolving many shift and engagement symptoms across the life of the vehicle. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards Manual.
TSB 21-22572021-09-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2021-2022 F-Super Duty/F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and built on or after 15-Apr-2021, with less than 300 miles (483 km), may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P20E8 and/or P208B stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due the reductant pump and heater assembly losing prime during extended vehicle storage. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to prime the reductant pump and heater assembly.
SSM 499892021-08-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2017-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with four-wheel drive (4WD) may exhibit steering bind or front driveline noise because the hublocks do not automatically disengage immediately following a shift from 4WD to two-wheel drive (2WD). This may be due to driveline tension between the axle and hub keeping them engaged. To correct the condition, shift the vehicle from DRIVE to REVERSE to release the driveline tension. This is a normal operating characteristic of the vehicle and replacement of the hublocks is not recommended. If the concern remains after shifting into REVERSE and allowing the vehicle to move approximately 5 feet (1.5 meters), remove and inspect the hublocks for any damage. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 308-07A. Repair as necessary.
SSM 494392021-02-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some 2020-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles with 6.7L and 10R140 powertrain may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction indicator (wrench) lamp with only DTC P07F6 stored in the transmission control module (TCM). The vehicle may also exhibit harsh engagements, poor shift quality and/or loss of 9th gear as a result of the DTC being set. If no additional DTCs or symptoms are present, clear keep alive memory and transmission adaptive tables with the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool, and perform an adaptive learning drive cycle. Transmission replacement is not necessary. Inform customers that a further improved calibration will be available in early March 2021. Let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle after performing this SSM, and schedule a service appointment for early March 2021. Monitor OASIS for updates.
