Service bulletins for the 2014 Ford F-450

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 478502019-05-07. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Some 2013-2019 vehicles equipped with a EVDC air conditioning (A/C) compressor may exhibit poor A/C performance/improper climate function and/or a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P06A0 in the powertrain control module (PCM). To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC control valve tester has been developed and is available from Rotunda (339-EVDC100). A tester has been provided to each U.S. dealership free of charge with shipments completed 19-Apr-2019 (reference EFC07013 on FMCDealer.com). This tester will help reduce the potential for misdiagnosis and unnecessary compressor replacement. Make sure that this tester is used for warranty repairs and document the test results in the Technician Comments field. Refer to the Rotunda catalog for a video and user manual which provide detailed operating instructions.
SSM 478362019-04-08. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL. Some 2011-2019 F-Super Duty 6.7L diesel equipped vehicles may exhibit a ticking/tapping noise traced to the reductant injector.
SSM 478232019-04-08. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ENGINE. Various 2013-2019 vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P264F after powertrain control module (PCM) replacement. This DTC indicates that the engine serial number (ESN) must be programmed into the PCM. The ESN is located on PTS> OASIS> Features> Engine Serial Number. Once the ESN is obtained from the historical vehicle bill of materials (HvBOM), it can be programmed into the PCM using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. Navigate to the toolbox tab> powertrain menu> Service Functions> ESN.
SSM 478862019-04-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2012-2016 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a battery cable clamp corrosion concern at the positive battery terminal. It is not necessary to replace the complete battery cable harness CC3Z-14300-A for this concern. Positive battery cable clamp BT4Z-14450-AA is available and can be used to replace just the corroded terminal. Do not cut or shorten the battery cable, but instead remove the corroded battery cable clamp and clean the cable end as necessary. Bend the new battery cable clamp as needed and crimp it to the existing battery cable. Make sure to use heat shrink tubing over the battery cable to battery cable clamp connection. Obtain the heat shrink tube locally.
SSM 478362019-04-01. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Some 2011-2019 F-Super Duty 6.7L diesel equipped vehicles may exhibit a ticking/tapping noise traced to the reductant injector.
SSM 478232019-04-01. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN.

SSM 475972018-11-19. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); EQUIPMENT. Some 2013-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with only DTC P2074 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a dirty air filter, replace the filter if necessary. Do not replace the PCM or mass air flow (MAF) sensor for this concern. Instead perform a MAF parameter reset under: Toolbox > Powertrain > Service Functions > Reset/Clear Specified Function > Reset/Clear Functions > MAF Sensor. Engineering is investigating. Monitor OASIS for updates.

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SSM 474022018-09-10. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; EQUIPMENT. When performing diagnostics for DTCs P2201, P2452, P2459, P246C and/or P2463, a manual regeneration and diesel particulate filter (DPF) parameter reset using the appropriate scan tool may need to be performed. To perform the manual regeneration, go to the Toolbox tab > Powertrain > Service Functions > Diesel Particulate Regeneration System > DPF Manual Regeneration. The scan tool may indicate that a regeneration of the DPF is not recommended at this time, selecting YES on this screen will allow the regeneration process to complete. SSM 470282018-06-11. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some 2011-2018 F-Super Duty 6.7L diesel equipped vehicles may exhibit a ticking noise at idle after an engine oil change. It is often referred to as Typewriter Noise because of its similarity to the sound of a mechanical typewriter. When engine temperatures reach 150 Å?F (65 Å?C) or higher, (from engine idle up to approximately 1700 RPM's), this noise can typically be heard at the front wheel well and is often isolated to the transmission bell housing or oil pan area. Typewriter Noise is not detrimental to engine function or durability and has no short or long term effects on the engine. Do not attempt repairs to eliminate this noise. This noise is characteristic of the 6.7L diesel engine and will typically cease or diminish significantly within the oil change maintenance interval.

Some vehicles may exhibit a no start condition with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and a DTC P161A after PCM replacement. This may be due to the parameter reset procedure not being properly completed. To clear this DTC, use the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software, select - Toolbox - Body - Security - PATS Functions - Parameter Reset. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the procedure. This procedure will transfer the existing Key ID information between the modules without the need of having 2 programmed PATS keys present. There is no need to program keys when the PCM is going to be replaced. Additional information can be found in the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-01. Missing or lost keys are not warrantable.
