Service bulletins for the 2018 Ford F-150

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Bulletins, newest first
TSB 18-23242019-01-07. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. Some 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTC P0471 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SSM 475442018-12-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2018 F-150, Expedition, and Navigator vehicles may exhibit a battery draw resulting in a discharged battery. An electronic park brake (EPB) switch internal short may cause the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module to wake up resulting in controller area network (CAN) system wake up. If the draw cannot be duplicated with fuse F70 removed, suspect the EPB switch.
SSM 475422018-12-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty/2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with the 6.7L or 3.0L engines may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with DTC P208E in the powertrain control module (PCM). When performing pinpoint test RK, the results of the selective catalyst reductant (SCR) dosing measurement test (RK7) may be zero or below the specified 40-50mL requirement due to urea crystals plugging the DEF injector nozzle. If the measurement is below this specified amount, perform pinpoint test step RK7 two additional times. If the specified amount is met, reinstall the reductant injector. If after three attempts the dosing measurement remains below the specified amount, the DEF injector should be replaced. The DEF pump should not be replaced for DTC P208E. Engineering is investigating. Monitor OASIS for updates.
SSM 475402018-12-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Some 2018 F-150, Expedition, and Navigator vehicles may exhibit a concern of inoperative adaptive cruise control with no associated DTCs. This concern may occur if hot in run or start switched power is not present at the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module on circuit CBB17. A load test is recommended to test the ABS module power and ground circuits.
SSM 475382018-12-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2016-2018 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may exhibit the Android Auto Preference menu selection is not present after an update to version 3.0 software. In prior versions of SYNC 3 software this menu was present, however in version 3.0 software the Android Auto Preference menu will only show up once an Android Phone has been initially connected to SYNC. This an operating characteristic of the Android Auto application after the SYNC 3.0 update and no repairs should be attempted.
SSM 475332018-12-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Some 2018 Explorer, Expedition, F150 excluding Raptor fleet vehicles equipped with a telematics control unit (TCU) may exhibit incomplete Ford Telematics service subscription activation, inability to remotely interface with a vehicle, and/or not receiving fleet alerts. Reprogram the TCU using the appropriate Ford scan tool at the latest software level. Fleet vehicle and TCU type can be identified in the Vehicle Information section of OASIS. TCU will be listed as 4G SYNC Connect. For claiming, use causal part 14G229 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

If there are no visible external oil leaks, replace both engine valve covers. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 303-01. For claiming, use causal part 6582 and applicable labor operations in Section 6 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
SSM 475152018-12-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2017-2018 F-150, 2018 Expedition/Navigator, 2018-2019 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 10R80 transmission may exhibit a whine noise. This may occur at idle and while driving coming from the bell housing and front pan area of the transmission. The whine noise may become louder when at operating temperature and increases with higher engine RPM in the Park position. A small amount of whine noise is considered to be characteristic of the 10R80 transmission due to the offset gear drivetrain in the front support and has no effect on durability.
TSB 18-22742018-12-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L, 3.5L or 5.0L engine and 10R80 automatic transmission and built on or before 15-May 2018 may exhibit harsh/bumpy upshift, downshift and/or engagement concerns. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
